Cobra is life Cobra is love <3

I always liked flying with powerful yet smallish jet aircraft/spacecraft. They are highly maneuverable and fun to fly. Even though my favourite "scout ship" is iEagle, it does have a rather limited space for everything and require wings to be operative in the combat (though I'm not into that).

It's where the Cobra mk3 steps in.

Cobra is:

- Economical, practical and fun to fly
- Coupled with just one cargo rack has just about right amount of space (16) for many Missions and stuff (Thargoid samples, black boxes, occupied pods etc). Trading excluded of course, but it is still possible with more cargo racks.
- Can defend herself, even bounty hunt NPCs
- Is very fast with +30ly minimum FSD engineered with all modules, even weapons installed. Exploring is no problem. Fuel scoop is fast and quite cheap considering it fills the entire tank in seconds.
- Extra space for SRV
- Can utilize Multi-crew
- Beautiful sleek design. Timeless and contemporary. Represent the standard of "Elite" look.
- Small enough to go anywhere
- Fantastic view from the in-cockpit camera
- Cheap to rebuy even with the top class modules. It rarely exceeds 500k.

Cobra is missing:
- Bigger space for cargo/passengers.
- More utility points for sinks and counter-stuff.
- Due to the limited space, considering the priorities is a must - what to buy/install and when to use depends on the playstyle and situations. Though I made a build to suit most of my needs.

I own most of the smallish ships and an Asp Explorer, but Cobra III is my true passion for flying and do-everything ship. <3

If you have horizons get a dolphin. Just remember to use the railguns for combat and you can do everything a cobra 3 can and more.

why would he bother with the dolphin? it's a passenger ship, not much use for anthing else.

Good jump range, better cargo capacity, same pad size, better shields, handles heat really well so despite 2 small hardpoints you can fit twin rails, slower top speed but still quick, very maneuvarable.

Honestly money no object the only thing the cobra has is a multicrew seat, but then, why fly in multicrew unless there is an SLF?

Thanks, will check that out for sure. :)

I see Dolphin as a big ship and passanger one.

Yes Arthur, that's a downside. I like multi-crew and have mc friends that i found with mc again, so flying with them is very nice.

In that case: kudos to you. And (apart from the lack of MC) I think the Dolphin can be fun too.

Frankly, if you have found a way to enjoy the game - you've "got" the game - and that's good.

Not having an option is always a downside, unless one finds the mere existence of options intimidating. :p

Hmm. An interesting philosophy. But I think your analogy is a little extreme. ALWAYS having an option versus NEVER having an option? Of course I like options, but if I _always_ have an option then your conclusion is perhaps fair - I might find that a bit intimidating - or perhaps exhausting?

Perhaps I am just weird...

All this!

The Dolphin is a small ship.

… YMMV? Is that a widely-known acronym? …

Your mileage may vary.

Not having an option is always a downside, unless one finds the mere existence of options intimidating. :p

Unless the only option you have is the perfect solution, then no other options are needed ;)

…, handles heat really well so despite 2 small hardpoints you can fit twin rails, …

Heat is a problem, a big problem in planetary flight. The Dolphin overheats extremely fast when using yaw while in normal space over a planet/moon anything not space.

Cobra can fit two medium sized rails and two additional small weapons.

Cobra is a nice ship. Dolphin is a nice ship.

(The two things I don't like about the Cobra: small weapon placement and not centered pilots seat)

FWIW*, I got 2 Vettes, 3 Condas, 2 Pythons and a complete zoo of other ships (no Clipper/Cutter though), and I like flying them all. But if I had to pick only one, it would be the Cobra III (got 3 of them, one in Colonia).

O7,
