There has been statement after statement, in this very thread from the executive producer. How is this horse being resurrected and beat to death again? There was one statement one time that was ambiguous enough that you might be able to think you would be given one, and every other statement has been so obvious that it would just be unlocked that you'd have to lock yourself in a basement with "I'm being given a free mkIV" painted all over the walls to keep believing you'd be given a free mkIV.

From that I inferred that I would have a free MKIV added to my ship inventory. It is not a case of how much the ship costs but of how the statement was worded, and the wording here clearly points to a £10 discount and a Cobra MKIV in game. There is no mention of having to buy it or have access to it!

Yes the wordage used to me seemed as if youd get a free MKIV but just a misunderstanding, could have been reworded. The backers however got a free Viper MKIV with this release.

This really isn't much af a big deal. We're talking about ~350K credits. Although it's going to be less for me because i'm going to strip and sell my III and buy a IVthe cobra ai a really nice ship si i kept mine when i upgraded. and now it's even nicer and will look good on the surface

It was CLEARLY stated that it will be FREE OF CHARGE, as a "present" , "reward", what u wanna call it, for pre-order the game, or like me, that i bought the base game on march and then the lifetime pass , expending over 60USD + 180USD later, and you know what?? YOU CAN KEEP THE SHIP... I DONT WANT IT NOW!!

Except in every other statement about it other than the only one you found yourself able to pay attention to....curious.
It does not mention anything about in-game in that sentence! You cant just add in-game onto the end of it.

What a deal! You can keep it.
Even the bubblehead, which where in beta, are now items to buy on the store...add this to the outrageous price for the expansion; I can see that Frontier cash are pretty dry, and trying to monetize on anything.

Man you really seem rather bitter this evening lol.
Why would I go searching for other threads or statements regarding a freebie - I read the original ad, and paid my money for the lifetime pass whilst getting my £10 discount - job done. Just because the goal posts may or may not have subsequently been changed doesn't alter the fact that originally the ad read 'plus an exclusive Cobra Mark IV ship'.
Now regardless of the fact that I would have bought the game whether the ship was free or not you cannot advertise something then backpedal once a contract has been entered into. It's the principle of the thing more than anything else...lets face it, it is hardly a ground-breaking ship and in the grand scheme of things relatively cheap in game terms.

what's weird about this is that i now have a Viper MKIV parked at Barnard's star, i've never been to Barnard's star!

Note the word PLUS
THIS is why there is confusion... That is not the only statement made where it is eluded to that we got the actual ship in our hanger free...
Which is why the question was asked.. And there has NOT been a single statement from Frontier in this thread about this because I created this thread today and have been watching it...

Just wondering, how many people actually feel they are being screwed over by something like this?
Personally I think anyone who's feeling even a little butthurt about not getting a free CIV should get over it. It's 750k credits, and unless you're in your first 20 hours or so this is not much at all.
To the many of you who may be in your first 20 hours, you'd you'd probably lose your CIV real quick considering the hull alone is a 37,500cr rebuy. Anyone who'd consider selling it will be missing out on a lot of the rather meaningful early game of credit pinching.
Ok, forget the ship, I'll just buy it..but...where is my black paint!
