Cobra Mk IV

Fellow Commanders, and FDev,

Given that the Horizons update will become free moving forward, my question is - will Cobra Mk IV become available to all? I'm not asking for a gift, I just want to be able to buy the ship.

The cobra mkiv was a special for those who pre-ordered the horizons expansion at full price, if you bought it after launch, no cobra for you.

That price was also halved not long after, and those who had owned it before then got the "black friday" paintjob for all currently available ships.
That paint job later got renamed to midnight and is available to buy on store for newer players.

Your not missing out though.
The mk 3 is better at being a cobra, and the Viper Mk4 is better than cobra mk4 in anything you would do with it, perhaps with the exception to multicrew.

But I'd love to have it as a mining ship (I prefer small/med ships to large ones). And those who preordered Horizons are no different than anyone who buys ED now, are they? So, FDev, give us the g Cobra Mk4.

Yes, here we are going again - because of stupid fdev rule.

In all other online games I've played that offered these kind of rewards, while they were limited THEN, after several years devs made it readily available to everyone (hey, being a pre-owner of some digital reward that is 4-5 years old or included in the main game now means nothing). At worst they made these rewards available for purchase at certain times a year, but ultimately, refusing to offer it altogether is just inability to make more money.

Why does it matter? Some of us love Cobras and are fans of these ships. I don't care if there are better ships out there (sure there is), I wanted to have one mkIV to fly on my own and for fun. And I can't due to fdev being a fdev. Just remind them next time they "stick to the rule", to take the account of lifetime package supporters if they ever try to charge you for Odyssey.

Even that is not true. It's limited to ** accounts ** and not ** players **.

Not bitter at all.

(PS. this is the second CM4 thread in as many days; we haven't had one for a couple of months at least. What's going on?)

What’s the fuss? I don’t even want one for the nostalgia, I never liked the shape of the Cobra. If I’m late to a party I can’t complain when the reception drinks are gone.

The fuss for some people is that it's something they can't have.

The fuss for me is that I actually have access to it (on one account) but can't play with it (partially because I'm weird and partially because FDev is stubborn and won't transfer the access rights between my accounts. Original account is way out exploring and in either case it'd be nonsensical for that pilot to downgrade ships; whereas my "new" account is only playing in the bubble and I decided to make him a a cobra-only pilot for some reaosn. Maybe because I'm old-skool and started playing Elite way back in the C64 days. I'd be happy to stick with the CM3, but in ED it's a bit limited as far as modules/slots goes, especially when trying different things (eg mining). Still a nice ship)

Yes that is of course quite correct, it is entirely possible for someone with a qualifying account to surreptitiously pass that on to someone else - albeit against the games T&C.

it's funny to me people don't give a crap about stuff they bought getting worth less or even zero but the idea of losing exclusivity on some virtual item that drives them nuts
