Cobra Mk V and more...

Energy bomb? IIRC that was pretty much the only thing that would kill Thargoids in the original game, I always carried one as a “I’ve been hyperdicted” panic button!!
Thargons maybe, not the mothership. Never needed one either way. Deliberately triggered 'goid encounters just to farm thargoids.

I get irritated enough by the seat being on the side of the cockpit😂
If it must be on a side, make it the right hand side, I'm British. I keep the greens on the left on entering/exiting a star port too, so if you ever see someone flying upside down, it might be me.

I know nothing about the orginal elite, whats farming thargoids do

It's not something I knew about until long after my BBC days and I don't remember ever using it (deliberately) in Elite+ (PC) or Oolite. You can force a mis-jump that puts you in interstellar space surrounded by Thargoids. There was a bit of luck involved whether you had enough fuel to jump to a destination star because (as in ED) the fuel required to make the original planned jump was consumed making that initial mis-jump. In the original game your Cobra MkIII had a 7.0ly fuel tank range & you could make up to 6.8ly jumps so if you had a misjump it could leave you stranded & needing to either re-load your last save or use the escape pod if you had one.

I'm not very hyped about a Cobra MkV, it's another multipurpose medium ship and also it looks more like bigger Viper MkIV than a Cobra. I'll but it anyway when obtainable with credits, but just because it is new.

The other thing about the new cobra: three seats. No way to make good use of three seats without a fighter bay. Thus i would expect this ship to be one more medium ship with fighter capability. And thus might be a real rival for the Krait MK II.

Not necessarily, there is one use for a 3-seater with no SLF bay: multiplayer on-foot missions. A bit niche though, given that the Crusader (which does have SLF capability) has 4 seats. So if there's only 3 of you, and you really want something smaller and probably faster than a Crusader, I guess there's a role for the Cobra V.

You are sure on that? When i check Inara, it says 3 seats.

I really sad right now. They put an exploration cockpit on the MK V and then gimp it with size 4 FSD, limiting it's jump to low to mid 60s at best. My explorer will stay the Krait Phantom after all, because the Mandalay has a fighting ship cockpit.

All ships can't be long range explorers. 60+ Ly is huge for a "non" explorer.
Have they released the full Mk V specs?
