Cobra Mk V and more...

Hi :)

I wish the announce this kind of stuff on forums too... not everyone is on X/twitter

I've got to agree, it's fairly logical to assume that any important announcement like this concerning the game would be on the News & Bulletins Forum? 🤷‍♂️
That's my first port of call when looking for up to date Developers / Community news.
I don't have a X/Twitter account either, and many thank's go to @ Kira Goto for posting up that link here. (y).
So...There's a delay, no problem, I'll look in on the News & Bulletins on Thursday. This would be an Update (Cobra Mk V) included within the usual Server maintenance...got it! :D

Jack :)

And continuing to use Twitter... You could argue that it had more reach in the past but since it turned into an oligarch run rightwing propaganda bubble it's a somewhat bold, if still too common unfortunately, PR strategy.

It’s also hard to read tweets anymore without having an account yourself. These days, it could be argued that companies are making a political statement by choosing which social media platform they are using. Less and less seems neutral anymore.

That's the world we live in. There is no neutral communication platform anymore. Most are privately owned and are subject to the whims of the owner. Regulation through legislation doesn't really work either, since the world can't agree on common rules and those platform can always shift their registration to a country that suits them best. The best legislation can do is forbid and block platforms in their country. But every state action or even a state owned communication platform isn't neutral either, but subject to politics. The best one can do is factcheck topics on numerous platforms of different political background and piece the reality together from that oneself. But who has time for that ?

Good point. I had an account maybe a decade ago to see what all the noise was about, and it was definitely a lot of noise so nuked the account a little later. My only exposure to the site thereafter would've been links in forums and on news articles, and since the change you described (and who's now "running" the shop) I actively refuse to give the site any clicks at all now out of principle, and don't really feel I'm missing out on anything, quite the contrary.

I just wish that companies, especially those who strive to portray a reasonably intact moral compass (inasmuch as that is possible for a commercial entity, and CSR is a thing after all) and other public figures would do the same. The problem would then solve itself eventually.

Was just going to post the same. On their very own forums, which features its own news and announcements section no less, it's buried in a 20+ page user thread, and no official peep whatsoever.

As opposed to a sternly left-wing platform where opposing views got shut down real fast, sometimes by restricting to fewer people (without advising the author, of course). Two words: Twitter Files. I know quite a few libertarian or conservative bloggers (Germans, not Americans) who got treated that way.

I am not going to argue with anybody about that. I respect your view point, I'd just like to point out that since the new management took over, it's more balanced -- I am less likely to bump into, ahem, "gentlemen" demanding that Jews be crammed into gas chambers. Again.

The Honda forum I belong to manages to put a social media feed box in one of the sidebars.
It picks relevant stuff, pops a snippet of new items in the box (which can be scrolled) and it has a clicky "expand" button that makes the box full-screen and allows you to scroll down through historical updates.

Surely it wouldn't be beyond the wit of FDev to implement something similar here, perhaps at the top of the News forum?
Would it?

I'm blocking socials plug-ins et al in my browser as standard, and don't really want to see that data-mining rubbish here to be honest.

If Frontier can't even be bothered to merely copy/paste relevant news on their own forum anymore, then I wonder what is even the point in having one (from their perspective).

Anyone who needs to buy ARX in order to buy the Cobra MKV tomorrow had better do so today. I think, there are bound to be delays in the buying process tomorrow...

I'm ready. Bring it. I bought a chunk of ARX when Mandalay came out and I have plenty left for the C MkV. I had plenty of engineered modules so I got the basic Mandy.

I've flown further with this ship than any other I've had and its showing the wear. Probably time to paint her.
I am really looking forward to the new Cobra.

That's a beautifully worn Mandalay, be sure to take pics of it all around before you paint it 🖌️🎨

As long as they don’t repair the paint or rebuy the ship the new paint will come with the same wear as they have now.

Very nice. I got a Mandalay as soon as they came out, but haven't gone exploring yet. I was too busy grinding up PP ranks and then got caught up in the AX activities this past week. Now that I'm ready to explore in it, the Cobra MK V is going to come out, and I'm going to want to do all sorts of missions in it. sigh I'll go exploring in my Mandalay someday...

I hope the colonisation ship has a more industrial bridge than the drake which is just a random collection of passenger seats with 2 crew terminals.
