It's very incredible but I think that the "new 2013" version of the MKIII will be more different. Because, in 80' years, DB was very limited in 3D and all ships are like 1 only polygon per ship...

Look how the Anaconda evolve on the last videos... I'm sure the Cobra will be the same changes... New details, new parts ...

Fantastic,

What image did you use for the print? I could do with this for assistance on building my new computer case.

Look back to page 1 where Crayfish posted a flat Cobra, the link in his post is a larger version for printing. You can trace that for a much bigger version ;)

That turned out really nice.

I've an idea to print a selection of Elite ship nets out on to card, each one about 2-3 inches across and make a micro-fleet of Elite ships!

Going to print 2 copies today....

1 desktop size copy and one XXXXL size copy (if i can) this will be the template for my new PC case :D

Yup, looking into 2 options

Complete new case, means I have to build in areas for disk mounts, PSU, motherboard, rear slots for onboard and addon devices.

Or a skin to clip in place around existing.

option 1 will be lighter, but will be very fiddly and may get it wrong, particularly on airflow. However would look fantastic when you open the cockpit to view the components, or have it as semi transparent perspex. and I know it would be a complete custom 1 off, nobody in the 8 galaxies would have this at all.

option 2 will be very quick to make, very easy respectively, as I's a frame around the case with a skin. But the interior case lighting (standard with the auora 3d "just thought of my ship name :D") and the case to lie on its side, then the cobra will be a wrap. And if i replace my case I can just adjust the interior brackets accordingly. Also the existing case has a nice side vent, glowing blue, which would be a cool fuel scoop.

I need it doing before I goto I48 LAN party in March

Having the power/drive LED's mounted in the right places on the ship would be fabtastic too!

Please do a build thread when you start :cool:

Ahh well you see. The 2 rear extract fans on the case are blue LED fans. Guess where they're going to be posisioned ;)

And they're right in front of the side vent, where i'll sit the fuel scoop to allow the glow to permeate out.

got all the plans in mind, will take a few weeks to get them in action. But i'll post up a photo progress when its in motion.


The plan is the exterior will be grey/black. With yellow decals.

There will be feet on it to stand on, and the exhausts and fuel scoop will be blue glow, as will the cockpit window (can't help that bit unless i seal it and put another colour in)

The entire front around the cockpit will have to hinge to allow access to the CD drive, but this isn't used much anyway.

So can't wait to get building.

Are you planning on having it stand on one of the wing tips then? Sounds like an interesting case mod, can't wait to see some WIP shots.

Personally I would love to mod my desk to look like a cockpit with a working radar :D

LOL now there's a cool idea... That would just be card/perspex wrap. Coloured and laquered.

As for my case, I think making the feet strong enough to support it, and lie the case on its side. It's probably the only way its going to fit on my desk at home :D

Being able to direct a part of the HUD to a separate monitor..... mmmmmm that would be so groovy!

I'd end up with a desk covered in screens :D

OK so lets go OTT here....

I have a Semi Transparent PC case, on a stand, with a motor to turn it, giving a similar effect to the cob III on screen in Elite. (not to fully rotate, but a back and forth motion)

Then having long wires, supported or Bluetooth/RF mouse, keyboard, Monitor and headphones, to stop tangling.

With a desk wrap (i got similar to this but older version http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40180061/) and 4monitors 1 above for sides/rear views, 2 in front for front view, 3 slightly to side for computer/market/user interaction, and 4 laid down in front of keyboard for radar, with part wrap. :D

That all depends on game support, and monitors working on RF rather than wired. Might take a year to develop that lot, but should be ready for ED release date LOL
