Codex Discrepancy

I've spent an inordinate amount of time in sector Archeron since the end of DW2 trying to Pokemon the codex for this sector (capturing all entries). I've headed back to a system which according to the codex has a terraformable Ammonbia world (Reported).

I've gotten to the system but the only Ammonia world here says none terraformable in its description, and EDSM also lists it as none terraformable, and the codex hasn't updated for me from Reported to Confirmed.

There is no other reported terraformable Ammonia world in this sector.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Looking at other sectors it seems they have 2 varieties of Ammonia Worlds, 1 none and one terraformable - yet when looking at EDSM it only lists none terraformable Ammonia worlds in the sectors they are supposedly in?

Confused.

I believe that's merely another Codex Bug.

For all I know, there's no such thing as a Terraformable Ammonia World. Hence, no Catalogues fed via EDDN have such an entry.

I checked some Confirmed Codex entry and (as expected) the System Map Info showed a normal Ammonia World - not Terraformable.
As lovely as the Codex and its concept is, for the time being it remains full of bugs and/or inconsistent Info.

Yeah I didn't think it made much sense (terraformable Amonia). So after 2 months flying around I am going to have to accept my codex is incomplete for Archeron. Bummer.

There is no such thing as a terraformable ammonia world. Ammonia worlds can only form in places that are far too cold to fit into the Earth-like Goldilocks Zone.

The fact that the Codex seems to be unaware of this and is reporting a large proportion of Ammonia worlds as terraformable, has been noted before. It's mentioned as an aside in this thread on terraformable metal-rich worlds.

There are two possible explanations for the bug:
  • It's just a bug. Nothing to see here.
  • The Codex actually knows something we don't, and is accidentally letting it slip: that there are plans to make, at some point, some (alien) race wanting to know about "terraforming" ammonia worlds. Thargoids live on ammonia worlds. So perhaps, planets marked as "terraformable" are actually "thargoformable".
