Colonia trip with my new Fleet Carrier Navigation Computer

There are things they could do in the background that a regular (I use that term loosely ;)) player wouldn't notice, but it would notice them. And then there are things cheaters could do in addition to avoid being caught and so on. It's an arms race.

But that's beside the point. If Frontier is cool with this, then it should be a feature built into the game for controlling fleet carriers. If they aren't, then they should probably drop in here and say sorry, but that it isn't something they condone (whether or not it's something they care to stop) and close this thread, even if they don't do anything about it in the game.

Six of one, a half dozen of the other. I guess the third option though is to just plug their ears and go, "la la la, I can't hear you." :D

Hmmm, a word of advice to all carrier drivers out there: cancel you buy orders on the carrier before you jump your carrier. Apparently FDev adds the "reservation" to the total mass of the carrier and your carrier consumes more Tritium per jump. I think I adjusted the buy order and reservation just in time. According to Spansh I should have returned with 2000 tons of Tritium but seems I will have just enough to reach the Bubble 😬

To all the guests aboard: 4 more jumps to the bubble.

Trip update: was planning end the journey in Diso but the parking is full and the NavComputer could not lock a jump into the system. Alternatively I manually chose to jump to the Awawar system close to HR 5630 (Beaufoy Orbital has cheap Tritium prices) for CMDR's who are willing to donate Tritium for the trip.
HR 5630 is full as well but I will try to get into the system later if possible.

Navigation Computer did not glitch one single time and performed admirably. Fleet Carrier burned 9900 tons of tritium (but should have been around 8000 if buy order was not set). Final jump in 20 seconds.....

Update:

I was able to claim a parking spot near Beaufoy Orbital, jumping in 13 minutes

I'll be there in about a few minutes, I already moved out to HR 5630 with my Alt (parked the ship and took a suiwinder), ready to deliver 1000 t Tritium.

Thanks for the ride from both of my commanders. And I'll stay in touch with you.

Uhm… ookay… I'm in Awawar but where is the Black Pearl ??

I could swear it was there earlier, but as I already transferred the Python to HT 5630 I lost my track marker on the carrier...

Edit: nevermind, found it with my 1st Acc, orbiting HR 5630 4... That's cool

Yeah but just to late in HR 5630, Tritium prices went up :(

Jumping to HIP 68158 now, only outposts now to stock up....

I noticed that but I couldn't stay on board with 3rd's Cutter, that would be useless in HIP 68158, so I only managed to drop in 660 t Tritium until now…

I'll change ships later and try to catch up with you at HIP 68158 but 2nd's Cutters jumprange is not as good… Sitting in Awawar with a hold full of Tritium... 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I'm totally fine with Frontier having a problem with this as it's a cheat, using a bot and automating the game for a player, or in this case players. Whether it's considered an acceptable one or not (which is subjective) is a moot point in my opinion.

However, if they don't have a problem with it, then I agree that it should be a feature built into the game.

Yes, it should have been build into the game, just as all the other third party tools like eddb, inara, etc...
Maybe in the future they will build this into the game but for now a third party tool needs to take care of it...

I envision two guys at Frontier. One guy is the person who insisted that fleet carriers require complicated manual manipulation. The other guy is the person who gave us the upgraded docking computer. Right now they are probably arguing over whether or not Frontier should support the FC navigation computer as a 3rd party add-on. Perhaps even introduce an in-game version. Or (as the first guy argues) not. It will be interesting to see who wins.

I was wondering about that, since I noticed earlier that buy orders ate capacity. I thought "Surely, they don't also add the mass with regards to jump calculations before it's actually on the carrier." Then I thought "However, this is Frontier these are humans."

Anyway, thanks for the ride home. Best overnight express I've ever taken.

I had a good night sleep as well... 😜
