Colonization Questions

I've claimed a system and built my first station. A grind, but not horrible.

How long for the station to come on line as opposed to being under deployment? Or, do I need to continue to develop for it to come on line?

I would love to see a shortcut to materials needed for building. Maybe ditch the training button on the ship status screen as opposed to having wind through the galaxy map?

When does rent start?, I seem to remember reading something about $5 mill having to be paid?

I know I can name the station but are wee going to be allowed to name the system?

It will come online on the Thursday 'tick'.
No rent... in fact you will get some income from your stations.
I expect 'never' is the answer to system naming.

ok, thanks. I thought I read you were going to have to pay tax to the local power play faction

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I also have some colonisation questions too. When it comes to surface settlements, can they be placed anywhere? For example on the top of a hill or mountain, and does the terrain 'flatten out' to accept the ground settlement? I notice that each planet has a number to show how many settlements can be placed so are they just predetermined areas?

How does the new systems economy work? Can I have a mix of everything in one system? For example a pretty station in the tourist style with the trees in one slot, and an extraction/industrial one in built in one of the other station slots.

Another thing I wondered is, if I build a surface settlement do I get a free level 3 access level so I can wander around as I please? I wont be a member of the controlling faction, just the guy who built and paid for it. Is that too much of a hope?

As far as I'm aware, settlements can be placed almost anywhere on a planetary surface. CMDR Mechan built a settlement right on the edge-ridge of a crater:

The terrain immediately underneath deforms to ensure that the settlement is on a level surface.

It will be interesting to see if I can build 4 ground settlements so close together that they are essentially touching. Like a mini town. If they end up being controlled by different factions and those factions are at war, will the npc's shoot each other? So many questions.

Settlements have a minimum distance from each other of 100km.
