Colonization should be an "open" only feature

If you are wealthy enough to afford a colonization project, you should be able to afford a defense force. Otherwise, you will suffer the consequences of other CMDRs trying to disrupt your efforts.
If this will be allowed in Solo or PGs , then there is no risk and only rewards.

wealthy commands with billions in the bank can create CGs in Open for players to defend their system.
rival CMDRs can also create a CG to disrupt the effort of system colonization.

now... you have an exciting gameplay loop. Not this boring snooze fest Fdev is proposing.
 
As much as I think you should show your face for competitive endeavours like powerplay, colonisation as I understand it is a personal endeavour therefore I don't care if someone wants to do it in private.

The mechanics of the game lack an effective law and order deterrent, and as a result, many players will stay in solo or private group. I’m glad the developers accommodate a variety of play style preferences.

Hauling hundreds of tons of cargo and getting lit up by murder hobos will kill the good vibes of many colonizers.

I imagine the majority of colonizers will toil in solo or private group, and I would not blame them at all.

Dude, just go shoot some of the “PvP” res in Shin Dez or Deciat if you want a challenge. Or maybe easy targets are the point…
 
Didn't FDev explicitly say that Colonisation wasn't intended to be a competitive feature?

In any case, I'd say that it's clear from the language used about being a System Architect that the point is about building things, not blowing each other up. From that perspective it makes no sense to limit Colonisation to any specific game mode.

Yeah, there's room in the game for "friendly cooperative sandcastle building" and "team deathmatch territory control" to coexist, and if anything I'd prefer the people who don't want to play in open be given an outlet for their preferred style of gaming.

It's kinda like how when I was doing piracy, I'd rather someone play in solo to begin with if they're just gonna log out when I demand cargo.
 
Frontier also said they wouldn't sell anything except cosmetics. They also said the wireframe cobra was exclusive before putting it back on sale again. They say a lot of things and many people even support them going back on their word. 🤷‍♂️ Words are just the noises you make when you want something.
