Combat corvette build advice

I am working to get a Corvette, it will be used for Haz Res combat, assassination missions and as an armed trader in open - Dominator.

The idea of the medium beam laser on the bottom is to act as a guide for the two rails and at the same time cool the ship when firing the rails. I used the same effect on medium ships to great effect. According Coriolis the DPS is fairly high and carry a decent load with good jump range.

Please provide you critisim.

Note this is not intended as a primarily PVP ship.

I am by no means a corvette expert, but a few things I would do with your setup:

  • bulkheads: lightweight/ deep plating and one thermal resistant/ deep plating hull reinforcement will give you nice and balanced hull resistances. Then add as many heavy duty/ deep plating HRP as you like. Ca. 3k hull should be a good mark to aim for.
  • for PVE I would use bi-weave shields and aim for around 60% resistances across the board. You should easily be able to reach around 2500mj and half the recovery time you have now. To achieve this you might want to drop the chaff launcher (not that useful on big targets like the corvette) and the heatsink. (only necessary if you want to use fast charge SCB's, but in PVE specialised/ boss cells give you better results, and more shield recharge)
  • one corrosive MC is always extremely useful to bring down hulls faster, I would put a gimballed/ turreted high cap corrosive MC in one of the small slots.

Thanks Ander, I somehow forgot about the Corrosive MC. However I might not need it since those tow big MCs will probably melt hulls. My overall DPS is about 223 with the rails and large tv beam and 88 without them. I will see how it goes in the shake down cruise.

Will switch to the bi-weave shield, all my other ship use that too.

Definately good advise about the armor and utilities too.
 
Update on my Corvette after the first space trials; she is a beast, even if not yet fully engineered. She is also quite nimble for a big ship. In a Haz Res and CZ she really is ”Dominating”, also a bit boring. I am used to flying marginal small and medium ships and have to pick my fights carefully. Only problem I found is you can only use the big ships in systems where there are large pads, as on big stations and FCs.

However it is good at collecting mats, even it CZs, if somebody is stupid enough to attack me while hanging there waiting for the limpets to hoover up the mats, I can just turn towards the offending ship and smite it and then go back to collecting some more mats.

Maybe I should have gone for an all turret load-out or even a T10 with all laser turrets. Anybody got a good built for that?
 
I just went all MCs with one or two with incendaries and of course one with corrosive. I also have a small efficient pulse with scramble spectrum, because why not?

Shields are not usually an issue, especially in CZ, its the hull or getting that PP down that is needed.
 
The L4 guns are manual fire guns (you can't fit L4 turrent auto-fire guns) on them two slots, so I use 2 L4 multi-cannons on them, which means you always have enough energy for the turreted auto-fire beam lasers and lower level multi-cannons. But I have all my guns to L5 engineer for efficacy, plus I have both the power distributer and power plant engineered to L5 also

Power planet is L5 engineering as armoured, and power distributer is L5 for shielded

I have 2 x L2 Beams and 1 x L3 Beam. Then 2 x L1 MC and 2x 4 MC. All the guns are turreted auto-fire except for the 2 xL4 MC guns

Not saying it's the best setup but at least the beams can get the shields down fast to move in with those 2 x 4 large MC as gimballed, I don't see any issues with power useage here the way I've enginnered the guns, power planet and distributor all to L5

Couldn't get to grips with using the Type-10, but liked the idea of a fully turreted gun layout on it. I guess you need to use Engine Kill all the time - because it turns so slow it just gets hammered fast with the shield taken down. You defo need that L8 shield on the Type 10, I tried it with a L6 (fully enginnered) shield I had lying around and 6 fully enginnered shield boosters and it's nowhere near good enough on the Type-10. It's too much of a slow sitting target and guessing it's the same with the Cutter, both being so slow turning, that they both simply need that L8 shield and tons of shield boosters
