Combat log - what is a cheat and what is not?

Hello commanders,

combat logging is a very often mentioned "issue"... Can someone please clarify for me?

Cheat = avoiding destruction by unplugging the ethernet cable. This is called "combat logging".

Not very brave, but not a cheat = avoiding destruction by exiting into main menu via ESC+15 seconds wait (guess its possible, if your ship is able to withstand 15 second beating from your oponent)

Am I correct?

Thank you ;-) Karlos

Both a cheat really. just one is more effective than the other.

not again !

They're only asking a simple question, not opening another trivial debate.

Closing. Far too many threads about this.

@OP As far as there are definitions made public by FD, you are correct.

"For clarity’s sake, “combat logging” is when a Commander ungracefully exits the game (e.g. using ALT + F4 then shutting down the game process) to avoid defeat, destruction and damage."

"Although this is flagged primarily as a multiplayer concern, the issues (and solutions) apply equally to the single player game.

First things first: we do consider this an undesirable exploit. It’s not “part of the game”."

that's frontiers definition. "ungracefull" is the key here.
