Combat logging

Just my 2p, which is as valuable an opinion as anyone else's -

People get very animated about combat logging. I've seen it lead to out-of-game harrassment (i saw a group of players send aggressive/hostile messages and even gratuitous videos to someone in discord just because he said he doesn't have an issue with logging). I don't get it. It's a game - have some people forgotten that? If someone doesn't want to play with you, are you really going to throw your toys out of the pram and make a big deal out of it? It doesn't bother me in the slightest because, as I have already stated, IT'S A GAME. If you make an issue of it, I think it probably reflects more on your lack of perspective. Personally, I have more important things to worry about than someone not wanting to play with me.

People are strange I guess.

Just to play devil's advocate, the exact the same argument can be used to support the opposite view. It's just a game, so suck it up when someone attacks and destroys you.

That's completely the opposite. Forcing someone to play a game when they don't want to is diametrically opposed to allowing people to play the game as they choose. You can call it discourteous if you like, but you can't force someone to play a game when they don't want to. Get over it and accept the fact you're playing a video game. It's not real.

My 2 penneth.

ED has more tools than many other games to play with friends or alone and be perfectly safe from any non-consensual PvP. Solo or Private group.
You can do everything an Open player can do; BGS, Power Play, CGs, all that stuff, so no one needs to get involved in a PvP contest unless they want to. Going into Open is an implicit agreement that you are willing to face other players in combat.

Going into Open 'cos "I can handle Open" then clogging is just weak.

Nobody can force anyone else to play the video game with them. Fix clogging, they menu log or finally learn to high wake.

A non problem with no solution, don't worry about it.

Whatever. My point was - no grown adult should care that another grown adult doesn't want to play the little pvp game with them. Get over it.

The game simply needs to add combat logger dummies... that is if someone closes the game ungracefully they'll leave behind a unmanned copy of their ship for 30 seconds. Fix'd.

All other methods to book it are okay, and with this preferable for those that run. Dont clog, its against the ToS, easy as that.

Is there actually ANY REASON at all for this thread?

In before the inevitable lock.
The argument/discussion can never be won here.
If only there was a sub forum thread it could be hidden away in.

No, not really. I'm just venting. It is ridiculous though. Grown adults whinging that someone logged off when they were playing a game with them. Gamers get a reputation for being nerds and losers. We sometimes bring it on ourselves with this kind of thing.

You are "their" content. By combat logging you're cheating them of their game play. That's why they throw tantrums.

If you dont want to be interdicted by real players then dont play in open and you will not have to combat log.
In my opinion combat logging is a form of cheating, because Iam sure if the combat logger was winning the fight he would not do it.

I you want to vent, please do so in the quiet of space where no-one can hear you scream!

Alternatively, one of the (many) other threads are there for your use!

Closing this.
