Combat Rank Progression Broken

Well, took on 35-40 ships tonight, was hoping to progress my Combat rank 1 or 2 % to get closer to my third ELITE rank, but, despite some great enemies, not a single budge in progress (stuck on 33% Deadly).

So, when I checked my stats in the Codex.... 😞 it wasn’t registering my kills.

Not sure how long this has been going on for, as I’ve not been paying attention to the rank progress.

Would appreciate if anyone else can confirm if this is a repeatable bug, or if anyone else is experiencing the same thing at all?

Not broken for early ranks ignore codex its wrong and likely conflict zone figure... ranks are not linear, their multi times what you had to do to get the rank before it...
And using SLF makes it even worse...

Just levelled up secondary profile... the lower the level you kill the worse the rank up for that kill... so deadly is even harder...

Yeah, totally get that regarding the fighter stealing from my progress bucket, they rank faster than we do regardless.

But I think something is broken with my ELITE here, could be a bug I’ve encountered.

I should have gained at least 1% in the Combat rank at Deadly for the kills I did yesterday, especially with the grades of enemies I was taking out.

I’ll try logging in fresh later this week and place my crew inactive, try killing another 35-40 ships and see how it goes.

Yeh according to the old post it should have moved 1% on around 25 ships.
  • It takes approximately 2,225 experience points to go from Deadly to Elite Combat ranking. This equals 1,780 Elite kills, or approximately 2,400 kills based on a more average distribution of ships.[4]

I wonder if they they tweaked it? I was at 70% Competent on PC and had to kill around 50 ships to just get that Expert but, it is exponential worse as you progress.

I didn't enjoy grinding Elite on PS5/PS4.

I’ll definitely try another session and see how it goes.

I think now I’ll start keeping a Dear Diary of Kills and log it here, I’ll make a note of the enemy grades as well.

Try Compromised Nav Beacons as you seem to get more smaller Elite ships there I had much more luck there than in Has Res's on PS5 when it came to finding Deadly and Elite ships. I ignored the rest.

Yeah, that’s a good call, I’ve been doing Magellan a few times, it’s a Compromised Nav Beacon right next to a Neutron Star 😎

Information does look compelling that there is an issue?
Is there a defect on the tracker for this? - Frontier wont fix issues if they are just discussed on this forum

(Do we know if it also affects PC players - they are always a good source for driving Frontier to fix faults.)
 
I think my general issue was definitely down to the enemy ranks I’d been getting previously in the Haz Res’s, as last night I moved combat by 2% at the Compromised Nav Beacon.
The enemy rankings were far better, but no Conda’s or FdL’s like I frequently get in the Res’s (their ranks are obviously not quite as good), the only Mamba I saw wasn’t wanted either, luck of the RNG Gods.

My combat ranking as a fresh CMDR seems ok on my PC Alt so far, put in 2 hours of combat and got a few ranks in.

Now that the kill scout stacking missions are gone as there are no more mega ships offering those missions, it got much harder to do it by default...
Used to be able to get fed/empire rank from them mega ships at the same time as combat ranks, can't do that any more... booo
