Obviously you don't fly a T9. Boost? What's that, 4 seconds from an overly agro human players combat built ship is a death sentence. I play solo, I promote solo, because if you don't drop cargo than human so called pirate, goes agro, and shoots to kill cause that person isn't getting their way. 5 million to rebuy my T9, thats an hour of trading 30 seconds is all it takes a combat ship to kill me. What do they get? Nothing but a bigger so called ego, what do they lose, lol ill leave that to the imagination, but its I who lose. I lose my cargo, my hour of time and my 5 million all cause some jack wants to play CQC in open. So go solo, don't combat log!!!! And don't say just drop your cargo. I've tried this and watched the guy laugh as I drop it and I die. So do I trust that the pirate won't kill me no, what then do I do? SOLO. cause there is no other option. Some may say party with friends, not everyone wants to follow my slow t9 from one station to the next.
No I haven't captained a T9 I am currently sat in a python as I work my way up. And my argument still stands if I know I am going to be interdicted regularly by players I jump into a trade clipper so I know I can get away, or I go and trade in a low player density area.
Also with your argument of people not wanting to follow you around, why not? They get 5% of whatever profit you make at no cost to you. And they could load up themselves on similar/same cargo.
For example you make an easily attainable trade route of around 3k profit per ton, 500 cargo = 1.5Mcr so their share of that for free just for being there in your wing at the station you sell at gives them 75000cr not including anything that they themselves are selling.
If in a trade/fighter clipper or python say atleast 200 cargo they carry at 3k/ton profit their cargo hold is worth 600k profit on top of the 5% it gives them for being with you.
Also you get 5% of whatever they sell at no cost to them either so everyone wins.
For me I see no reason to play in solo. You adapt or you perish. It would be like saying "I don't drive on the roads in case there is a drink driver that might hit me" or "I better not swim in the ocean ever because I know there is a shark SOMEWHERE in the the sea"
I see your point, but you are confusing real life with a game. I have and will make possibly real life saving decisions when it comes to me and my family. I will stay home on New Years Eve because of the greater possibility that there is a drunk driver on the road. I will swim in a pool when there is a large number of sharks swimming just off shore. My vacation of choice is not going to be a war torn area, I could go on forever, but confusing this game for real life is silly. Combat logging is an old argument, while it doesn't bother me (cause I don't PvP/PP) it's kind of a douchy thing to do.
Please do wing up, bring friends, go to a less populated area, or play solo. It will make the game fun and combat mean old pirates at the same time.
That just gives HK47_Raidens argument more weight if anything. It's just a game isn't it?

I was agreeing with him. I just don't like relating real life consequences with the game. It's like saying that the game has combat in it cause it's called Elite: Dangerous, that argument is silly. HK47_RAIDEN is right though, like I said in the end, do all those things he said, or go solo.
If you wish to play with other people you must agree to play in Open mode. If you agree to play in Open mode then you agree to PVP. If you agree to PVP then you agree to potentially having your ship destroyed. If you agree to potentially having your ship destroyed then you agree to potentially losing a lot of credits and time.
That's a lot of agreement that people simply don't agree with.
As is seldom touched upon and always ignored in threads such as this, combat logging is one effect of the current system. If you wish to treat any symptom or effect, look at the cause.
The dangerous argument isn't that bad, maybe oversimplified but not bad. It is a space sim and MMO and those tend to include PvP combat. Not all do but enough that it is obvious you will find PvP in the game. Or alternativly you could simply say you knew what you were buying and if you didn't you are a bad consumer.
Lets remove the option for open!
I'm going to assume you were being facetious. Or just seriously lacking in imagination?
Well Mobius shows that there is a large group who wish NOT to pvp but are forced out of Open to play in a private group ( even then its not really non pvp ).
So just create an official PvE Open or add a PvP toggle.
This will solve all the Open/close arguments and combat logging and pvp griefers.
Oh not it won't.
well a lot of it anyway.
If you rank up even just a little you get a large cushion through insurance, I have enough insurance to rebuy a 2 mil. credit rebuy ship then another 500k left over and I'm not ranked up musch at all in exploration am fairly high trade and ok I guess combat rank(Trailblazer-Entreprenuer-Dangerous). The trick is never fly without rebuy so that insurance loan never come's into play though. I spent a week paying it off once!well it wouldn't be a problem if there was another space sim on the xb1 but since star citizen is currently choking on it's own money that isn't gonna happen any time soon. I'm not going to actually combat log cause you know ill get banned. But i will complain and say that banning people for combat logging is ridiculous with how severe the punishment is for dying (at least if you can't afford your rebuy). Other games have less severe punishments for actual problems in that they can't be worked around like combat logging can. The point of the game might be the penalty's but that doesn't mean we should twitch ban every single person who knows how to tap a button.
