Combat Tutorials As Free Demo

Hi,

I've made friends of mine aware of E.Dangerous, but they're still very unsure. One hasn't played any Elite ever, the other only the first one. They pose me all kinds of questions on how ED plays. It'd be helpful for convincing them of buying ED, if the combat tutorials that Merc. Edition buyers got to play before release would be offered as a free demo.
I could just tell them "See for yourself", y'know.

agree. though i have to say a lot of the unique elite dangerous atmosphere lies in travel (as well) – it would be great to have the combat tutorials as free demo but somehow connected by being in different but close star systems, with room and freedom to travel & explore a bit.

I believe this is already an option? Go to the launcher and after logging in, select 'Single Player Combat Training' to install the separate client. I'm not 100% sure if this is available to those who haven't already purchased but I'd like to believe that to be the case.

There really needs to be a better new player tutorial. Posting youtube videos on basic flight control, travel and combat are not enough to retain new players. They have to get a taste of what they can potentially do once they learned the very basics of the game. I think a series of tutorial missions and a select few systems for a demo would be great.

I'm a Merc. Edition buyer, so I don't know, if that entry in my launcher is a left over either, or if everyone who registers can try it. The list of available products only appears after logging in, after all. A proper demo shouldn't require registration. Nobody's gonna go through that just to have a try.
