Commander blocking station access

Froniter, I've got a commander blocking a station now for 10 minutes is this acceptable behavior,
System is Kigandan: Bethe Dock, Landing Pad 5.

In short, while it may be unpalatable there is no time limit wrt how long a player can be docked at a station.
---
It may be that they were not deliberately blocking the station but just busy reading GalNet or some such while docked.

Or waiting for their next powerplay cargo. If it was control system.

Or waiting for rare stock refers if that station is selling rare cargo.

Or selling exploration data. I made trip to sag A and bag it took me 2-3 hours to sell that data. Yes selling one page at time take some time and you have many page of data to sell.

If i see player taking pad longer than 5 minute i ask him if he is going to leave soon or let me land and do my business. If he doesn´t reply i go to solo.

If system is cg outpost and some one take too long on pad 15+ minutes i report him by using in game report method as no one needs 15 min to sell cargo to cg station.

you report him for sitting on a landing pad doing whatever? typical

that is not a banable offence ... false reporting can get you banned

Maybe he has to take the dog out. It's no business of yours what someone else does with their landing pad. They own it until they tell the station they are planning to leave. Simple. If that means you have to go elsewhere that's just too bad.

You are correct and very incorrect.
Yes it's not a ban offence if innocent, one-off or a random station but if hogging is a planned action it is a bannable offence. They are using methods that are not in the spirit of the game to have an effect on the game.
For example the Hutton Orbital CG at an outpost. A very small number of players could block all the medium pads in open across many instance forcing people into solo/group and severely hampering the CG and player experience. In this case people reporting the same players over a 5 hour period should provide enough proof for Frontier to investigate their activity (or lack of) and either manually disconnect them or do something.

False reporting won't get you a straight ban if the report is made with good intentions. You may be asked to stop reporting X events if you excessively report things but there's no reason Frontier should ban people for reporting issues and suggesting this isn't great, people should be comfortable reporting whatever they feel is necessary, if they are incorrect Frontier should be the ones to inform them.

Personally I think an inactivity timer should be implemented (15 minutes no mouse/joystick/keyboard or other inputs). That removes innocent hogging and makes it easier to detect deliberate acts.

Seems a bit excessive and a waste of time for all concerned, you an the poor soul who has to check through all the player reports you must make... ive taken longer than that just browsing on my galaxy map and reading some galnet.

As above during outpost CG's some players have undertaken co-ordinated action exploiting the lack of medium pads to force other people into solo/private and hamper the CG.
Most of the time it's innocent but sometimes people deliberately sit there during events.

I have an opposite experience from the last CG. Great cooperation, greatly organized queue and every commander spending a minute tops on the landing pad. Plus we had a nice chat. :)

So, OP, don't assume the worst, automatically. They probably were busy with something, or/and didn't even know you were there, waiting.
Given how often people ignore comms, it's very likely. Also it could have been some RL emergency situation. Happens all the time.

If you think you are going to be more than a few minutes, playing in Open it's a simple courtesy to enter the dock rather than sit on top. Doesn't cost anything except a click.

Last I checked docking had no effect on pad availability. May be worth checking again.
Edit: Ninja'd :p

I've been too negative here and I'm sorry for that. Want to leave by saying you are completely correct that 99% of time it's merely an accident or busy doing things in galnet or some other innocent reason. All I wanted to say is there has been organised things and excessive pad-hogging (imho) should be reported as FD do really need to fix this issue.

Well player who doesn´t respond after 15 min asking him to make space is enough. People will answer if they aren´t blocking the station on purpose. Blocking community goal station so many players can´t play the game. After watching how 30+ players come and go change their play mode because one person think that its fun to block the pad or get killed by others after they have waited for 30 min for one player to leave pad. I am fine for them to kill me outside the outpost or interdict me and kill on my way to station but afking on pad and preventing others to play isn´t okey for me. There is nothing else you can do about it. Pirates you can at least kill. And clearly reporting doesn´t help that much as i have seen same cmdr do same thing on multiple cg.

I only report them if that outpost is community goal station. In other situations i just change modes.

I never ever realised that .... so I've been .... ummm ... that queue was because of me ? ....

Well it was related to a community goal, at least the source of materials. And I wasn't the only commander affected in that 2hr period I seen several disappear of screen. It was a civilian outpost too.
