Comms panel keyboard shortcuts?

What are the keyboard shortcuts to operate with the comms (chat) panel? I couldn't find anything to read on this.

I know I can click Enter to start writing a message. Then hit Enter to send it. And hit Enter on blank message to leave the chat mode.
I know I can click Up/Down while in chat mode, to scroll through the comms history.

But how do I navigate to the other parts of that panel? Now, in the 1.2 version, there are nice icons there, and one of them signifies that I've got mail, so I'm intrigued :)

I used to hit enter when I hit the "2" key to open the com by accident but that doesn't work now. The "Esc" button took me out of it after every interdiction brought coms up.

Go into OPTIONS, then Controls, scroll down to...... Auto Focus on Text Field and set it to OFF

This will then let you use Comms as normal without getting stuck in the text field each time you select it. You can select the different tabs as you would normally do in the Pilot's side panels.

This is a good hint, thanks!

It's easier now for me to not hit 2, and instead hit enter. That way it doesn't force you to look at it. Just hit enter Commanders!

I had the same problem of not being able to access the other 3 comms panel tabs with the usual keys. This tip solved it. Thanks - have some rep sir!

Many thanks resolved the issue for me.

I can't thank you enough for this information. My inability to control the comms panel has been bugging me!

I have the same issue. And no, disabling option mentioned above doesn't help. Something is wrong. I don't use Odyssey, onbly Horizons. Any suggestions?

Yes.
1) instead of engaging in necromancy with a 6 year old thread, start a new one.
2) a screenshot or two of your specific problem might be helpful. Apparently, it's not the same as OP's was all those years ago.

No, it's the same issue. I can't select anything on comms panel. And maybe other people have the same issue.
Screenshot? Please. I don't think it can explain this better than my description.

Hmmm... which keys have you mapped to "next panel tab"/"previous panle tab"? I use Q and E, but I have no idea any more whether those are defaults or not. These should be the samekeys you also use for tabbing through the left/right (exterior/interior) HUD panels.

Well, I'm using TWCS Throttle, so next/previous panel tab are assigned to two buttons. And for all other panels they works, only for comms doesn't. I have assigned Q/E and they doesn't work too on comms.

Well it's something weird. This problem appears only when I'm in headlook mode. When I switch on comm panel via hotkey, everything works normal. I noticed a difference of view in headlook and hotkey mode. First screenshot is in headlook mode and second in hot key mode

Hmmm..... just a vague suspicion, mind - but ED bindings configuration can be confusing, so do you have any duplicates between your headlook mode binds and your regular (comms) panel binds? I.e. do you have multiple functions assigned to the same key? ED will not flag them as conflicts if you(r binds) use the same key in different contexts.

No, I didn't. And this problem appears only on Horizons. On Odyssey everything works OK, but I haven't Odyssey right now and won't buy it until will be finally bugfixed.
