News Community Feedback and 3.0.3 Update

  • Material drops at settlements provide only one item instead of three.

    This is intended.

And yet another reliable method of farming materials was nerfed into the ground. Seriously frontier? Your balance team is garbage, stop nerfing everything when it's so obvious none of you have ever completed the grind to engineer a ship yourself. Because if you had, you wouldn't be doing things like this...

Unless, unless... they have done that, and simply disagree with your opinion. :p

Will,

Frontier is straight-up the best. Keep it up, and be sure to know that, for many of us, we've seen a lot of companies have a range of response quality...and that FD has been and remains among the best.

-Require multiple sets of data for one weapon
-Now drops one at a time at random

Welp
Guess I'm not gonna bother with that. Farming the same data multiple times at the same settlements is neither fun or engaging content.

Guess I'll side with the aliens and shoot people instead

Also comms panel bug on console. This is massive.

You didn't even mention this. It's game breaking

Fdev I like a lot of the things in the 3.0 update but seriously? How in a million years did you guys sit around a table and decide that this was needed? I'd love to know the thinking behind this as it was not an easy feat gathering data from settlements before but now its just an absolute joke. Please fix it.

It's already intensely sad seeing new players asking where to find mats told to just mode-flip at Dav's Hope for a few hours and trade - they need to fix it entirely so these mats only drop once per player.

You're still getting easy-cheat-gravy mode. Pitiful state of affairs

Game is immensely playable without G5'ing everything straight away.

Frostypaw you can't possibly agree with this surely? Were you finding it too easy to collect data from settlement scans?

I honestly don't think they have.

And I don't think that mat farms like Dav's Hope have any major impact on the apparent majority of players who are fumbling around on their own private, low-ranked personal journey through the game.

All it does is make it harder for experienced players to enjoy their game.

(And to be fair, FD not designing this game from the perspective of the player has been an issue in the past, many times.)

ladies and gentlemen, this is a prime example of why people refer to these forums as "the brown sea" and it's "forumdads"

also the whole "one drop per data point" is insane. Glad I farmed the out of skimmers to fill out my data storages because holy lol. This is just going to put off new players too!

Is the dev team trying to turn this into a korean MMO? When can we start buying data packages from the store?

  • Material package for the affected players of the Guardian Power Plant issue.

Material packages have been sent out to affected players. If you haven’t received yours, please contact our Customer Support team here.

  • What exactly were we given in this material package? I got the message about the Guardian powerplant, but the one I had engineered was still in my ship with the modifications. I put the module in storage and it just disappeared.

This is a very poor and unfortunate decision, especially for the harder to find data materials. I thought you said you didn't want to keep wasting our time?

[*]Broken turrets on the Anaconda.
This should have been resolved in 3.0.2. If you have fresh cases, please report it in our bug report section.
Oh no... don't tell us you think it's fixed... you have a ton of bug reports AFTER 3.0.2.
When I read this so close before the next patch, I am totally afraid you will still not fix it.
This can't be slipped through QA 3 times. Try it... put a large turret on any ship and target something. You can't say you need MORE bug reports.

Look here... all posts after this are from 3.0.2.

And here a post from Mitch far after the 3.0.2.
Hey Cmdrs,
Thank you for all your additional information and videos.
We now have all the information we need regarding this issue.
If this continues after the next update please do let me know.

Don't say you think this should be fixed in 3.0.2.

Indeed.
I went to a HazRez, YESTERDAY, and at the very least the large beam laser turrets on the top two large weapon hardpoints were STILL AIMING DOWNWARDS.

This has NOT BEEN FIXED.

I play on Xbox.

Believe it or not, a lot of players think that G5'ing the hell out of everything is immensely fun, me included.

Go play your own game and let others play theirs.

"For 3.0.3 we’re altering crime functionality: when you are wanted in a jurisdiction, your ship automatically deactivates the system authority link to prevent your crimes from being detected. This is in line with it using anonymous access protocols to protect you from detection when docking at ports where you are wanted. It means that players will no longer be committing crimes when attacking wanted ships, even if they have not scanned them. It is still important to scan vessels that you are unsure about, but you will no longer become a criminal for attacking a criminal." THANK YOU SO MUCH so happy to see this changed puts a :) on my face

[*]Powerplay bounties cause a ship to become permanently 'hot' and subject to 'hotness' penalties for ship transfer.

This is something we’re currently investigating and if you have reports about this please ensure they’re reported in the bug report section.

Thanks indeed for looking into this.

Oh.

No.
