News Community Feedback and 3.0.3 Update

Players should normally receive 3 units of both materials and scan data universally (with the exception of the Guardian blueprint scan data, which is only 1).

Based on investigating your reports, we have discovered that settlement scan data is currently being received in units of 1... which is incorrect and not intended. As mentioned above players should be receiving 3.

Praise Braben!

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this issue. We’ve investigated and found an error at our end in regard to amounts received from data scans at settlements.

To clear up any confusion we’ve caused here are the details:

Based on investigating your reports, we have discovered that settlement scan data is currently being received in units of 1... which is incorrect and not intended. As mentioned above players should be receiving 3.

We are looking into a fix for this issue and we’ll update you when we have more information to share.

If you encounter any issues where you do not receive the intended amounts of materials (outside of the known settlement scan data issue) please be sure to report it in the bug report section here.

We also have no intentions of reducing the number of materials received. I have updated my previous post with this information.

Apologies for the confusion caused and thank you for your feedback and patience.

Thank GOD Will!

WooHoo!

Sandro, I assume you are aware that people will think relog/modeswap at one location to stack up rare data/materials quickly is the way to 'build your narrative'.

I've been to a talk by a Microsoft Research fellow who was talking about what happens to those reports Windows automatically sends. "We have billions and billions of reports." I think there is a line somewhere :D

i have heard at the Autodesk headquarter, they have a screen showing a globe that shows every automatic crash report recieved in realtime.

Believe it or not, a lot of players think that G5'ing the hell out of everything is immensely fun, me included.

Go play your own game and let others play theirs.
Very true. I had a lot of fun working my way to create my exploraconda. Min-maxing until I felt I've reached a satisfactory result, only so I can have my maxed out exploration ship. Of course I could've had a lesser engineered ship, but it was a goal in itself to make it happen. Just like some people have a project car they're building and trimming.

If you're anything like me... Build a 70ly Anaconda. Get 10,000ly from the bubble. Set to "economy" making 3ly jumps.

A straightforward, gracious, and above board post. Thank you!

Am I misunderstanding this or is he really saying we where suppose to be receiving 3 of each piece of data like that mats you pick up in space or on planets? That’s crazy. If I am not confused then this would mean all my years of doing base hopping I have been only getting 1/3rd of what I was supposed to receive. That is a heck of a lot of data.

edt. A friend of mine cleared it up. So this was only for a couple of weeks now. Not three years.

For 3.0.3 we’re altering crime functionality: when you are wanted in a jurisdiction, your ship automatically deactivates the system authority link to prevent crimes gainst you from being detected. This is in line with it using anonymous access protocols to protect you from detection when docking at ports where you are wanted. It means that players will no longer be committing crimes when attacking wanted ships, even if they have not scanned them. It is still important to scan vessels that you are unsure about, but you will no longer become a criminal for attacking a criminal.

For clarification, if this is true for NPCs too... does this mean we won't get a fine for interdicting wanted NPCs anymore?

Nevermind: seems to be a bug. Log file shows the scan registered as complete after the interdiction event, even though it was already completed before I initiated the interdiction...

The level of whining I’ve been reading, and the outright hostility some are showing to others they disagree with...smh.

Just a reminder to some of you...it’s a game fgs...get a bit of perspective. Wouldn’t surprise me if FDev have reverted it back to 3 mats because they’re sick of grown adults acting like children and just want to shut some of you up.
