Comp scanner reticle disappears in SC

Fairly new player here! I’m having an issue where the blue reticle that appears when switching to the composition scanner disappears after a few seconds when in supercruise. I think it used to stay on-screen, but I changed some fire group settings and now it only persists for a few seconds each time I switch to its fire group. I like having it in supercruise to help with navigation when flying manually. Possibly related, my data link scanner and K-warrant scanner will work even if I’m in assault mode (happens both in ship and in SRV). The message that I’m in the wrong mode flashes repeatedly, but I am still able to scan ships and data points.

So it seems like my scanners are buggy. I was going to reinstall, but figured I’d make an account here and ask here first. Thanks for any help/clarity you can offer!

Working as intended - current FG shows momentarily to remind you which one is selected. You probably used to have a FG with a SC-compatible item in it - which made the display stay up, so put whatever was is the FG before back in. Or cycle FGs until it displays the one you used to have selected.

Edit: For example adding the Discovery Scanner to a FG makes it stay on-screen. Though the CS scanner disappears still, as it isn't used in SC - maybe you're getting the scanners confused?

I don’t think I’m getting them confused. I set up an FG with nothing on it but the comp scanner to test if another scanner was interfering — the behavior was the same. It makes sense that the blue reticle would disappear in SC like you said, but I thought that it used to persist even in SC. Maybe I’m remembering wrong, but I remember switching to the comp scanner to bring up its reticle to help guide me when on approach to planets in SC.

What about the fact that my K-warrant scanner and data scanner work in assault mode even though I’m getting notified that I’m in the wrong mode when I use them?
