Ships Comparison Python to Krait

So I was just curious on peoples opinions on the Krait Vs Python idea.

The Krait: ~30 mil

Maneuverability: 3

Top Speed 245 m/s
Boost Speed 337 m/s
Sheilds 262 MJ
Armor 396
Unladen Jump Range 8.59 ly
Utility mounts: 4

Hardpoints:

Ship launched fighters
3x large
2x Medium

Internals:
2x size 6
2x Size 5
1x size 4
2x size 3
1x size 2

The Python ~56mil

Maneuverability: 2

Top Speed 234 m/s
Boost Speed 305 m/s
Sheilds 294 MJ
Armor 468
Unladen Jump Range 8.23 ly
Utility Mounts: 4

Hardpoints:

3x large
2x medium

Internals:

3x size 6
2x size 5
1x size 4
2x size 3
1x size 2

I guess what I am seeing here is that the Krait is better than the Python in a lot of ways. The big one being speed and a fighter bay which since it is technically considered a combat multipurpose I get. But it can practically haul the same amount of cargo and has a further jump range. Not to mention the Krait is half the price of a python. Idk I feel if it is suppose to be a combat vessel maybe remove some of the jump range and cargo space in trade for more shields and armor. Or tell us why a python can't have a fighter bay and costs so much more. Full disclosure though I feel like the python should be the benchmark for all ships as it is a good all around ship and can do a little bit of everything. Basically I think the python should be like the middle of the road not the best at any one thing but good at a little bit of everything if you build it right. And I feel the developers should use it for balancing as I feel it is the most "Balanced" ship in the game, in other words you will get back what you put into it. But I am curious on other peoples thoughts as well, please post any constructive input you have.

The lack of a third class 6 slot, to me, is critical. My Python that I use for BGS work mounts a class 6 shield generator and carries 208 tons of cargo and an SRV. With the same outfitting on a Krait, I only get 144 tons of cargo capacity. So it's not enough to make me want to replace my Python.

I also use my Python for mining, and while it performs admirably, I rather like having an SLF in RES's with me. I used to use a Keelback for mining, so the SLF backup was something I'd gotten used to which the Python doesn't have. So my idea is to outfit a Krait as a mining ship with an escort:

Class 6 Cargo Rack
Class 6 Cargo Rack
Class 5 Fighter Hangar
Class 5 Shield Generator
Class 4 Refinery
Class 3 Collector Limpet
Class 3 Collector Limpet
Class 1 Prospector Limpet

Surely not as high capacity as some larger mining ships, but at least you get to play with SLFs while you mine, and you have the firepower to bounty hunt while you're there.

I used my Python for haz res and CNB bounty hunting. But the Krait II just took over those duties, big time.

Now I'm not sure what I'll used my Python for. :(

After watching some of the streams today I feel like the python might still have a leg up on the Krait in the pure fact that it can get way tankier in the long run. So now it is looking more of a side grade to the python. Kinda on the same level for most things after I finish getting my Python fully engineered I wouldn't mind having a friendly duel with a Krait to see how it stood up. But that will be a while =/

Well, I don't much about this Krait vs. Python business. What I do know is I just fragged a Krait being flown by an NPC while in a Python, so there's that.

Not sure what, if anything that statement is supposed to mean. I've been fragging a boatload of Pythons today in my Krait. :)

Taking out NPCs doesn't mean much with regard to a ship's potential or combat worthiness.

Yep and I snagged a Challenger a bit ago as well. One this for sure is I'm having way more fun in the Krait then I ever did in the Python even when it was a combat ship. I think that's the real comparison here. :D

With stronger shields and two C6 SCBs in my Python I had more 'margin for error' on my part. With weaker shields and only one C6 SCB I have to work a little harder to keep myself in one piece. But the added maneuverability and speed of the Krait II makes that pretty easy. As long as I don't screw up. :)

The other night I took on a wing of three condas with the Python. I seriously doubt I'll try that with the Krait.

The Python has stronger shields, and can carry two C6 SCBs. Much tougher than the Krait. But, having said that, the Krait doesn't NEED the shields the Python has because it is faster and more nimble. I took out a handful of FGS and Pythons today who never even landed a shot on me. And I'm still learning to fly this thing. :)

I’ve only done a quick test and so far it does pretty well in the Haz. Real test is pvp of course and the stats on mine seem very flimsey. Alpha punch is good though. I’ve gone with 3 pacifiers, a feedback rail and a seeker. It just mops the floor with Haz wings but I doubt it can handle a concentrated assault for very long.

When I get home from work I’ll test some more, maybe even get in a duel or two. Prelim Test was nice. Might upload that later.

Maybe. Maybe not. I was going to ignore the pirate and give him the slip till I saw what he was flying and zeroed out the throttle, saying "Oh, I'm ready!" No, the Python's still the Go Anywhere, Do Anything Queen of the BGS.

Why do people keep talking about the shields? The difference in the shields is not enough to matter. Only significant difference in shields is the Python's extra C6 slot which could be used for an SCB.

Nice work balancing resistances on those shields! [yesnod]

Cheers. Oh and it’s pvp viable. Not OP but definitely a good ship. I’ve altered the stats a bit. With so many plasmas flying I needed to forgo a little resistance for a few extra mj:

New hardpoint loadout too:
