Placing a Bounty on a Colonizable System
The Pioneers Cooperative is kicking off with a competition (found after this short intro) that we hope will ignite the imagination of the player base. Even alone, this will be fun, and if we are lucky it may turn into something bigger. At the end of last year a large number of player groups and players came together to push for a community goal to colonize a nebula – this turned into what people now know as the Pleiades CG, and was one of the most popular community goals to date. Due to its success and Frontier saying it would like to do more of these types of events, the groups have reformed into a neutral initiative known as the Pioneer’s Cooperative.
Our aim is to be a positive part of this community and maximize player support for colonization Community Goals, making it worth the developer time needed to create such events until automation of colonization is achieved. In the meantime, we hope to act as a forum for the developers to gather input on these topics, while providing events and competitions along the same theme. This is one of those competitions. Hows this for a player(group) placed bounty?
If you would like to learn more about the Pioneer’s Cooperative and it purpose, check here.
The Competition:
The Pioneer’s Cooperative is placing a bounty on a popular colonization site in the general direction of the core! Systems will be submitted to this thread, and once the competition ends, a vote will take place to determine the community’s top three choices for colonization. The top three will win a free choice of a paintjob, or eBook from the Frontier store. The paintjobs and eBooks are kindly being donated by Frontier. Kit out your long range exploration ships! This is going to be big!
Edit: The top four voted submissions will receive a paintjob or ebook. The Canonn is providing the fourth place prize!
Submission Rules:
To submit your system, make a post of this forum thread. I will go through and gather the top ten to thirty submissions for a community vote depending on how many quality ones we receive. The target range for the system is 2500 to 5000 LY in the general direction of the core. It doesn’t need to be directly at the Core, but in its general direction. Such a destination, should it ever exist would have the benefit of being a rest stop for the most intrepid explorers out there. If you want to find a nebula to be in view of your system, a word of warning, the bigger ones in that direction are a little over 4000 LY out; however, there are some smaller ones that are harder to spot under 4000 LY, you will just have to look closely.
The target content of the system is an Earthlike planet, as well as Pristine Metallic Reserves. At this distance a population would need to be able to sustain itself, thus the Earthlike, and the Pristine Metallic Reserves would provide ample opportunity for growth. If an Earthlike cannot be found with Pristine Metallic Reserves, we will extend the competition a month and settle for pristine metallic reserves in the system next door, or submissions with metal rich reserves. We know Earthlike systems out there exist with Pristine Metallic Reserves. We should settle for only the best, and we will find it! A metallic planet is not an example of Pristine Metallic Reserves; moreover, you can't mine planets right now in game.
Since this is being put up for a vote, if you want to win, consider what people like. Does it have a view of a nebula nearby? Maybe you are lucky enough to find an Earthlike with its own rings that happen to be Pristine Metallic Reserves! Does the system have an interesting layout? Is there a neutron star? A sample submission will be provided below. Please post your submission in the format below. The format will be used in the vote to make it easy to digest for voters.
Submission Rules Summary
Competition runs for a month, and may be extended to two months if no metallic can be found. If Pristine Mettallic reserves with an earthlike cannot be found, we will extend the competition a month and lower the bar. The administrators taking care of the competition are Tanj Redshirt, Obsidian Ant, Ben Ryder, and Walt Kerman. Entries deemed innappropriate, for whatever reason, are at the discretion of the administrators.
Submission Format:
A submission has four parts after title of your choosing. The first two are necessary and the last two are optional, but I imagine their presence would increase your chance to win. The first part is the “Galactic Location”. Include a picture of the Milky Way with your system selected to show its location. Second part is the “System View Plan”. This is the meat of the submission. Essentially it is a screenshot of the system view, and drawn in are your notes, indicating points of interest, or possible locations of future colonies! Perhaps you want to show in system trade routes (remember this is a place that has to support itself). Whatever you want really, have some fun. The last two are 1 – 2 glamour shots. Please put parts one through four behind a spoiler, or we will have a picture explosion. I want my browser to be able to load the thread! If you are feeling picture happy you may include a link to an imgur gallery under your System Plan photo.
Submission Format Summary
Drawing future locations into your system plan is optional. Your notes written into the system plan should include distance from arrival point to the earthlike and whatever other points you think the community would like to know. Remember to place part 1-4 behind a spoiler!

Since enough metallics have been found, the competition will not be extended a month and will end on the 8th of February at 8am GMT.
A quick disclaimer before everyone gets too excited. This is a player run initiative. While Frontier is supporting us with paintjobs, the winners aren’t necessarily going to have their systems colonized; however, the player run initiative will be submitting a long range story arch and related CG’s to colonize any one of the three winner’s systems. While this is very cool, we don’t actually know where Frontier is on their development cycle. If nothing comes of it, that is ok, and we will be doing more events in the future. Let’s keep this event positive no matter what, and at the very least Frontier can use this for future ideas. See you in space commanders!
Search phase is complete. Please see this post and standby.
