Complainers, Moaners and Whiners

I'm seeing these words being used more and more. Were the people that are using these words silent before the patch. No I don't think so. I believe they were the original complainers. So what we have now is hypocrisy. So when you're called a complainer a whiner a moaner you are being called so by a hypocrite. So don't let it bother you post your complaints. You see cause this is where people come and post complaints and feedback. I really hope the dev team can see through all the smoke.

Well, welcome to the internet. The majority of people that use those words are likely just fanboys and don't understand that complaining is sometimes needed to make a game better. Without all the complainers, moaners and whiners, the game could have already been worse.

I just laugh off threads that contain profanity and extreme rage, but others can take it seriously and have the quarter of the entire forum community guilty for this one poster's temper.

It's the manner in which people choose to complain that makes them moaners and whiners, constructive and respectful feedback positive or negative is the way to go, sadly many people let emotions take over.
I agree 100%. Also, when you think about it, many people in these pro/con 2.1 threads have their own agenda. The so-called moaners and whiners often want the AI and Engineer stuff made easier to deal with, where as the so-called white knights want to make a showing in the hopes that the devs won't dumb the AI down. The reality I think is that the devs will do what they're going to do based on information they receive from all sources, not just the forums. My guess is that things like a comparison of server load pre and post 2.1 will have the most impact. As we are not privy to all the information, all we can do is intelligently post our opinions and let it go at that. Arguing about it is pointless.

There's criticism and complaining.

"FDev, there are some balance issue still with the AI. I have noticed some of the have over powered weapons, and for many casual players there is not enough information give to be able to avoid un-winable encounters. Here are some suggestions."

"Come on FDev, how can you be so stupid? Do you even know how to make a video game FUN! Since 2.1 I can't beat any of the AI anymore. The game is BROKEN. ALL of you customers are going to leave if you don't fix this NOW."

One of those is useful to the Devs and is likely to generate discussion which in turn is also useful. The other contains no useful information beyond the attitude of the player and is likely to be written off as the moanings of someone who will never be happy no matter what.

I've said it in the past, if you want to see improvement, try criticism rather than complaining. I know that in my job I have no interest in trying to appease customers who are aggressive or disrespectful towards me, because I don't want to encourage their repeat business.

edit: Because I just found a perfect example of this. This of these 2 do you think is more likely to influence a change in the mechanics of the game?

Actually, I have noticed that 95% of the people complaining the loudest post-2.1 were complaining the loudest pre-2.1.....just about different things. The loudest complainers-from my experience-are the people who race to get the biggest, A rated ship in the game, then complain about how "grindy" the game is. These same people are now using the same "grind" argument.....only now its about engineers. Meanwhile, the bulk of the community are getting on with enjoying the game, and offering suggestions and feedback-in the appropriate forum-as it comes to mind.

Actually, The tone used by many of the complainers all but ensures that their complaints will *not* get heard......even if its legitimate. Ever heard the phrase "you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar"? If a person thinks their complaint is bug related, then post it in the [Bug Report] sub forum, if your complaint is about something in the game you think can be improved, then post it in the [Suggestions and Feedback] Sub-forum. I can assure you that screaming about how much you hate the game-in caps lock-here in the discussion forum, is unlikely to lead to improvements in the game.

"Excuse me!"
Marc goes about doing what he's doing
"Er, excuse me!"
Again Marc carries on
*pulls out 9mm and aims at Marc*
"Hey punk! I'm speaking to you!"

...Are you sure that saying is correct sir? ;)

Totally agree. Its the way the tantrums have been carried out that merits popcorn and derision.

Legit well made posts where critique is mostly constructive are welcome. What isn't welcome is the whining..

You know, the ones that say 'I'm quitting', 'Its too hard', etc.. and which goes on to basically have a moan.. That isn't so new I suppose.

I honestly think folks need to learn some impulse control. Yeah, hard I suppose when we are all so passionate and I guess I have my moments too but compared to the avalanche of moaning I feel I'm somewhat of a saint here right now.

For example, there are legitimate grounds for complaint over the RNG and collection of mats.. Yet it desended into hysteria.. as it usually does. Have to point this out but I've never seen so many drama queens on a gaming forum before.

Maybe its something particular about spaceships.. I dunno, but the crying sweeping the forums has been childish.

It's just internets. This happens in just about every forum that isn't patrolled by militant agenda-based moderators.

It takes all sorts to make the forum go round. Personally, I rather enjoy all the "moaners/whiners/complainers" and the robust debates that spring up around their posts and various threads. I don't agree with that crowd particularly, but I recognize that the debate between them and the other various groups are not only good for the game, but they're good for the forum, too.

If everybody agreed with each other, that would just be dreadfully boring.

There is literally nothing the developers could ever do to satisfy this community. But that's par for the course with video game fanbases. Doubly so if it's a crowd funded game.
