Basically, yes. Just what exactly were you expecting from a station owned and operated by a robot bartender? It's a bar, in space.

I ignore Galnet, along with USS's and anything to do with them.
And anything to do with combat, mining, exploration & cartographics, requisitions (unless they pay exceptionally well or by sheer fluke i already have the cargo on board)...
And anything to do with multiplayer.
I just trade, in solo mode, the only two worthwhile products, between two systems, storing up credit for when there's finally something to do with it. Buggy racing, building a homebase on some remote world, maybe sailing a yacht across a water world... years away, i know. Dunno what else to do. Don't really play much. It's all so lame at the moment..
If Frontier actually did this correctly, GalNet would have had at the very least a developed story arc covering 6-12 months in advance, and ad-hoc content could have been added with little pressure. As it stands it's more like GalNet entries are written on the train in to Cambridge with no attempt to actually tie in to the game itself.
God dammit"GalNet entries are written on a train in to Cambridge", that made my night. Hehe. Just give them time, its a huge game.

I don't understand... I visited Jacques' station about 6 or so days ago, and there was certainly a commodities market. Not sure about other services... and I did not expect a bar.![]()
Its not a bug. It was never there in the game. This is the reality of FD's attempts at in-game immersion.
Compare that to this version of GalNet....the gulf is incredible, and while there will be those that say "FD is just finding its feet etc etc" there's simply no excuse to be so amateur. A primary school class can come up with more consistency.

Sad thing but one of the very first things I have learned in ED that some important parts of it doesn't have any real function.
GalNet is one of them I'm afraid. Somoething I don't even bother to click on - it has nothing to add to the gameplay for me.
Some other things fall into the same category:
-trade routes on the galaxy map - useless and incorrect.
-import-export relations: carved with an axe and useless for a trader who spent at least an hour in game.
-commodities list on the market: 90% is pretty useless - there are only a couple of commodities worth any attention for the price, the rest is just there for decoration.
-bulletin board: a bunch of random things with little or no coherence to the location. Above the Cobra it offers next to nothing for a commander
-shipyard: totally random selection of ships with no coherence to the location. Same goes to outfitting. A high tech station does not offer some equipment what I can buy in little ratholes. For the same price I have to say.
I guess the list is not complete but it wasn't my aim to do anyway.
However I like flying in space in these ships. I'm even in love with the orange colour, I wouldn't swap it over to anything.
The only problem is that somehow it doesn't appear to be enough for me to start up the game lately...
Maybe a year later.
Regarding Jaques Station:
Galnet Writes:
I arrive at said station. What exists is as follows:
1. Home page
2. Contacts
3. Universal Cartographics
To those who actually caught on to my satire thank you for your support.
To the few who actually defended FD regarding the galnet false advertising regarding this worthless station: the Ultimate Fanboy forums are awaiting your next googley-eyed, jaw-dropped, OMG I'm flying in space, I love you FD YOURE AMAZING posts. So go stroke their non-deserving ego's some more so they think they're appeasing players. Pathetic, just like the station
Welcome to the Elite: Dangerous Alpha...err I mean retail release...
So we are comparing the content maturity and developmental stages of a 13 year old game with that of one which has been released for 2 months? Legit
Agreed. Not a FD fanboy but I do have patience. Galnet is clearly nothing ATM. It wasn't even a thing 6 months ago. Why the drama? So we are comparing the content maturity and developmental stages of a 13 year old game with that of one which has been released for 2 months? Legit
Eve Online struggled for some 6 to 7 years (and that's a generous estimation) before it was developed enough to retain a considerable playerbase. You guys are expecting a game (much larger and grander in scope, with much more potential imo) to achieve the same thing in 2 months? You guys are ridiculous.......
