Congratulations to the fuel rats

10,000 rescues is one hell of an achievement!

Well done to all involved (I suppose that also means those who needed rescuing as well :)) and nice that you are the second group to have earned recognition in the form of a decal from FD.

Now, how about we start a campaign for a Hutton Mug decal?

Well said Ian, however you forgot to mention 9000 of those rescues where for you. :)

And congratulations to the Developers, for setting the precedent that developer favourite player-groups should deserve further preferential treatment and creating another toxic entitlement issue

Far as I can see, there's good cheer all around - except for in this post. The whole thing reeks of "They have something, so I want it too!". So...who's got the "toxic entitlement" issues?

Good effort fuel rats. If people want to complain that collectively hours and days have been sacrificed in organisation and rescue for the sake of others, and you got a sticker for you ship that doesn't actually affect your ship...you go ahead and ignore them. Salt is for slugs, not rats.

Not really. Ingame group mechanics (which are what are needed if they want to continue down this road) would make for simple administration.

I don't think FD do want to continue down this road - they merely wish to acknowledge the positive contribution that the Fuel Rats have made to the community.
I'd have thought giving groups control over player decals would cause even more trouble.

Very thoroughly deserved by the rats!! Had to use them once and was such a fun experience.

@ lucifers hate, mate you are missing the point that being a triple elite group (whopteedoo) and just plain existing is no where even remotely close to being on any sort of par with the fuel rats.

Doesn't have to be a rescue service - What about a Newbie service that provides training in game, offering to show people how to fly and dock, how to do wings, how to work on a surface how to mine and so on

There isn't a group like that on a similar basis to fuel rats. Many time we see post about "how do I ..........."

An elite training school would be similar to fuel rats

Always possible to think of things that are for the good of the community as a whole

How about going back to Escape Pods and having an ambulance service??

Congrats to FR!
Good to see some support here for FR's efforts.
To the rest of you: Do you have any idea what you sound like? Good grief. These folks worked their butts off to provide a service nobody else wanted to do. 10,000 CMDR's rescued.
And instead of showing a little good nature'd spirit by congratulating them for their hard work, what do you do? You behave like spoiled children; crying because "why did Billy get a present and not me!" ... well, because it's Billy's birthday.
Now sit down, shut up and eat your damn cake.

Shameful behaviour.

The birthday of the Fuel Rats Mischief was a few days ago, now that you're saying it. I guess we're officially one year old now. :D

Ah, now it becomes so much clearer... I was wondering about your new avatar. Before I took a short break it was all greyscale, nice of your fellow rats to buy you some crayons to mark one year of operations! :D

The thing is allow it for everyone or don't allow it for anyone. To make 1 group special over any other is wrong and stinks of favoritism.
I agree. Any group that is as awesome as the Fuel Rats deserves their own decal. So everyone who reaches that level of awesomeness should get that decal.
I see nothing wrong with Lucifers request - his group, albeit a villanary group (AFAIK) is just as welcome and important as others.
Indeed.

Just less awesome.

Whether or not they intend on doing this, they inadvertently are with things like the rise to power.

Sooner or later this is really going to hit the fan. I'd rather they mitigated it by providing the same functionality to all groups, without direct developer involvement.

omg really? Jealousy? let go guys

Its not about jealousy (my congratulations to the rats was genuine, regardless of what people seem to have decided to think).

It's about Frontier not making all group or player mechanics available to all groups in a way that doesn't involve direct developer involvement on their behalf.

Hmm.. so its because its a manual system rather than an automated one. This giving of decals though, its a rather subjective thing. Its not like they could automate it.... the devs have to be involved, because someone has to make a judgement call on when a group has earned a decal or other reward.

Well I'm pretty sure you've gotten the overwhelming community response of "They deserve it" - for a purely cosmetic change, it all seems quite petty to bring it up as a complaint.

Furthermore what's this name and shame nonsense?

The achievements made by the two groups, which gained a decal from FD, are outstanding. There is nothing to compare to the intention and the benefit (both FR and DW) coming from any other group.

Some chap shot up a fuel ray recently. It's now been published as an official galnet, universe wide story. When it originally ran, it included the offending Cmdrs name, which goes against all policies frontier have stated until now regarding naming and shaming.
