If that's the case they can run whatever they want as long as their computer is capable of streaming video, and they just have to put up with the latency.I think they meant GeForce Now - the new (ish) game streaming service.

The game is not neglected on console at all.
Frontier recently: "There are not currently plans for PS5 and XBox Series X. We're continuing to evaluate. "
Paradox.
I suspect the game will be backwards compatible with those consoles, but there won't be a specific version for them. It would be madness otherwise.
Yes, we're all a little in the dark about this over on the Playstation sub, specifically because the backwards compatibility is by no means assured on PS5 and no further comment from FDev has been forthcoming.
It's a strange one alright.
Not sure that's the issue. (see:They probably don't even know themselves, until their get their hands on a PS5 dev kit.

Anyway, for the OP: The past of the game on console has been that of a 3 headed cousin to the PC game, and the future of the game on console is a little uncertain. If you have the option, your best bet is PC. Enjoy!
Smiles knowingly...Thank you for all the replies. I think I will get it on Steam this weekend, and if it looks bad, and/or KB and M is too smiles much of a pain, I can return it (as long as it's been under two hrs) and try it on console.

Do realise that ED has a LOT OF BINDINGS!
You'll be spending way more than 2 hours setting them up! Expect a learning curve for the first few weeks too,,.
Personally, PC (doesn't need an amazing spec but obviously more is better) and a hotas that will set you back £100+
Well I don't know how that works for you then... I'm on PC and it needs your input as many of the configuration options are not set other than the really basic flight options. I'm not sure you can even complete the training sections without going into bindings?I never touched a single one, and I'm using a controller too.![]()
Nope.
How can Odyssey launched in 2021?

See the link in that post. Get Horizons for a fiver, see the 'related content' link at the bottom of the page to also get the base game (which is nedeed) for a fiver. Then buy whatever paints you might fancy with the £30 you'll have saved by not spending £40 on the Cmdr deluxe edition. Especially relevant since the paints you get with the deluxe edition are for entry level ships if I recall correctly, which you might well find you don't fly after a couple of weeks.
Oh and keyboard and mouse is fine to get a feel for the game and see whether you'd want to invest in a stick, full HOTAS or whatever. I've been playing with KB&M for five years.
I did say buy it when it's on sale. I've bought the Cmdr Deluxe Edition direct from Frontier for £21.19 in one of their sales.
That said, using your method you get it for £10 and still have £11 for ARX.
The only thing I would say is that I've read enough posts from people struggling with buying ED and Horizons separately and trying to get it to work. At least with the Deluxe Edition the two are tied together.
Most folks give up horizontal thrust
Point is, on XB i'm rather crap with fixed weapons

At least that is how it works for me... You may get different milage depending on your needs.

Hello. I've been playing the game on xbox for 3 years now so I'll give my assessment. The xbox version can do everything the pc can however the pc can use third party apps to supplement your experience. Like you can set up macros for your pip management to immediately move to a particular configuration while xbox has to manually move it the way we want. So, exactly what the title says. I'm thinking about getting this game. As you can see from my profile picture, I've I'm already a player of a Frontier-made game, and don't worry, I know Elite a VERY different genre than Planet Zoo, and management games in general. Still, it's a genre I'm a bit interested in. Just a few questions.
First of all, what platform should I play it with? I have a PC that's pretty bad for gaming. I do have GeoForce Now, meaning graphics aren't going to be too terrible, it's mostly general performance that I'm concerned about. If I need a good computer for playing on PC to be viable, I also could get it on Xbox instead, although I'd rather not if possible, due to personal preference, and the fact that console is always a bit neglected in the world of gaming.
Second, controls. As far as I'm aware, most people either play with a controller or flight stick. I like keyboard and mouse, but should I take the controller route? I've only seen one person claiming keyboard and mouse is easy, everyone else seems to think it's a pain.
Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions, and have a nice day.
