Console controls for Odyssey

Anyone else curious how controls will translate for flight stick users on odyssey?
Even fs/t users using a kb as well? I really wish there was expanded kb use other than just chat type functionality. All those keybind options and not enough to bind them to. I hope this is addressed for Odyssey

The PS could handle it.

My gut feeling is we won't get KB support on console for the reason most console users don't use keyboards and FDev like to go down the path of least resistance when it comes to console.

I think as long as the on foot binds are all unique to on foot it should be ok.

Hopefully they can allow you to use both HOTAS and DS at the same time. This would probably be enough.

To be honest even if we get KB support I probably wouldn't use it but, then I never bothered with HOTAS either.

Edit: I remember way back at the beginning I requested the context sensitive buttons which appear on screen when you press say triangle and it displays the controller keys. It misses the R2 and L2 buttons and asked for them and the touch pad to be added. No cigar...

In fact I only asked for triggers!

Why even release odyssey on console at all then? I can understand lack of hotas support if its not that popular on consoles but it can't be that hard to transpose from pc. Its not as big an ask as say VR.
 
Only simple ones though. If it supported stuff like the Warthog or Virpil then we'd have way more buttons / hats / switches, and constrained inputs wouldn't be such an issue.

I'm guessing the problem is they'd then have to essentially map inputs to keyboard commands, which means keyboard support: as i think the Hori one basically maps the dualshock to the HOTAS inputs, so wouldnt allow both it and dualshock at same time. Can't recall how the TFlight did it, might be ok for that one, but it's still limited inputs and not great quality in the scheme of things.

tl;dr petition FDev for more HOTAS support options.

I do remember that we used to be able to use CTRL-F to bring up the FPS display with keyboards. So while not on the front end it was already buried in the code.

That got removed though unfortunately.

It would have been handy with PS5.
I understand the minimal support for kb on console. Although with games edging closer and closer between their cross play counterparts, it seems like a missed op not to try to capitalize on the options. Even CoD is jumping on the bandwagon with kb/m support on console.

I get it. The DS is Sonys' baby and that what a majority of people use in their living rooms. But it still doesn't hurt to have options. Otherwise get rid of the USB ports altogether, right?

I totally would if I knew how. That quest has brought me here to gain like minds 😉😁
 
I think there are few threads on here from the past. If memory serves, for PlayStation, we are bound to whatever HOTAS has a license with Sony. At the moment only the Thrustmaster. The Hori is for all intents and purposes not a HOTAS but a DS controller shaped like a HOTAS with no analog inputs. It's usually around this time that someone pops up to mention the Chronus Max or whatever it's called.

Either way - more licensed options or indeed multi controller support within Elite would be good. I doubt either will happen.
