Console Profile Copy Process | Release Plan

This raises an interesting point. I have a current PC paid for Odyssey account which I will wipe so I can copy my PS5 account over. I already own the PC licence.

Can I transfer my alt PS5 account over to a free Horizons account as my current PC account is already paid for or over to my other Epic account which is dormant on PC?

@sallymorganmoore apologies for the ping but, this actually might be quite important for console players. Can this be clarified as it's not totally clear to me as the page says one;

'Only one profile may be copied per copy of Elite Dangerous.'

This implies it can't be done but, if it's about only getting '1 free Horizons account ' then people with existing PC accounts are actually worse off as will lose the 'free' Horizons license being offered if they use an existing paid PC account.

The free account is a feature, a kind of good will gesture, not an obligation on their side.

So if you want to transfer, they may save you from buying the game again, but if you already did and you want to use an existing account which already has Odyssey enabled, it doesnt mean they still owe you a free copy of the game

Yeh I've edited my post. I'd still like to copy my alt to another account on PC I already own if it's possible.

I totally forgot about my alt until I was sorting accounts this week ready for the transfer.

Not that bothered about a free license.

Yeap, it would be nice if they'd allow it. After all, you'll be buying a new copy of Elite for it... (or copy it over an pre-purchased copy of the game)

I get that the console copy will remain playable, but since the transfer is per-copy of ED and one-time only, allowing xfer of ARX isn't exactly going to break the system now is it?

Indeed, you would think, if they can copy all the rest of the stuff, why can't they copy over carriers, their contents and ARX balances, or even if they can't copy them, they should surely be able to at least offer people the option of a straight transfer of them, while deleting the original copies (like the old platform transfer option)...

Whatever the reason is for not copying or transferring carriers, probably the reason for not copying or transferring ARX is because it's potentially a purchaseable currency (not that I've ever bought any, or ever pay for micro-transactions), and can't legally delete any anybody paid for and I guess they see too much value in them to double any paid for ARX..

However even if it's because you CAN buy ARX, can they surely differentiate between free and paid for ARX and at least transfer all free ARX

This implies it can't be done as it appears it's dependant on how many console versions of the game you have.

I'd still be happy to be able to copy my alt over to my Epic account in which case Frontier wouldn't have to give me any new Horizons license at all. It's just the copy process.

I did the livery and cash transfer and it carried over to odyssey & horizons. I was told if I wait til September it would only carry over to Horizons on pc.

The September transfer is to a new free Horizons account which becomes a copy of your console account not the same thing as moving some assets to an existing PC account from a deleted in the process console account.

Also, for ARX spent on carrier cosmetics, will we have these when we purchase carrier on the PC side as well?

I would suggest because Carriers aren't linked to your personal account, they are their own entry in the database, your CMDR name is added to that entry as owner, trying to transfer carrier would require two separate transfer processes and the Carrier could get lost if your CMDR name after transfering isn't the same name as before transfering, so it would be a lot of trouble trying to transfer FC's as well as CMDRS and probably require a lot of manual processing rather than being an automated process. The same applies to content of the carrier, where all the ships and modules are attached to your CMDR name, cargo in the carrier is probably connected to the carrier entry so it can be purchased and sold on the market. It's probably just far easier to do it that way, have you sell your Carrier and get the credits.

ARX balance can't be transfered probably because you purchased ARX through a second party, that is MS or Sony, they aren't FDEV's property, I am sure there's some legal hitch there rather than a technical one.

Question about cloning:
I own the game on my main Xbox account. When console development was initially halted, I purchased the game (Horizons AND Odyssey) on PC. I'd like to clone my main account to my PC copy, but since I own the game on Xbox, will I still receive an extra copy of horizons? Can I copy an alternate Xbox account to that new copy of horizons?

No! If you would like to use an account that you already own, clearing your existing PC save will allow your console Commander to then be copied to this account.  If you have an account with a Commander that you would like to keep, you can use a free Horizons account that we will provide for the console profile to move to. To use this free account, you will need to register for a new Frontier account using an email that differs from your existing account.
To delete an existing PC Commander profile, open the main menu, select 'Options' and then select 'Clear Save'. You will be asked to confirm the action before your save is deleted.

So i would really love to know if, in preparation for XB > PC copy/migration, i should decommission my XB carrier this weekend (no later than Sunday Afternoon) so the decommission process finishes by the end of next week

sorry for being pushy about this question because, as we all know, carrier decommissioning does not happen overnight and it does take some planning

any news regarding the Carrier migration - i know they will not be migrated and it was suggested to the people that cannot take a 6+ billions loss to decommission their carrier prior to the actual migration

However, this quote from Bruce implied that some other options are under scrutiny by the dev team (for example, and this is my daydreaming, the console migration process automatically enabling a carrier for the migrated account if the source had one or simply adding the credits value to the new account so they could use that amount to purchase an identically outfitted carrier on their new account)

What are my options for my Fleet carrier and its contents?

We are looking at a number of options to give the best continuity for CMDRs being copied from Console to PC.  As soon as we have more information on Fleet Carriers, this page will be updated to reflect our plans.

Last public work day has arrived for fdev testing woot... So today should be the last day off testing to reach. a go or no go for monday the 12th release or push it back days woot...

Think 19 billion will be enough for PC account so will not bother with FC decommission... for anonther 5 billion extras.. PS4 version is not going any where.
PC version will be used for the 4.0 narrative only... and the New but still bad knock off version of the mark watney planetry rover...

Server farm team is in Eire not UK... Dont know were the remote work webmaster team work from but they stated before on live stream many freelance designers were not UK based...
Every thing is stiff upper lip till the actual funeral day which is expected to take over 11 days yet..

I use the same email for both my temp pc account and my xbox account (different tags though) is that going to be a problem?
