While I’m fully aware that fdev hasn’t stated specifically how or when they plan on doing progress transfers, I thought I’d drop my thoughts on a possible method. Currently, the system allows for a one time asset cost transfer from one account to another. I say build off of this system. Say you have 2 accounts, you go through the form, enter the pertinent information and then present a checklist with two columns. The columns would correspond to the accounts you have entered. Following, the rows would be an assortment of transferable assets and data.
Let’s say you have been playing on console for a long time and have poured many hours into exploration, combat, and trading. All of those materials collected, the data scanned, the systems with your name on them. All of these generalized assets would have an associated row, and every person wanting to transfer accounts would select one or both of the accounts from which the information would be kept. Now, of course many people would select both accounts for all of the checklist, and of course that would be the ideal. However, I feel having this process could potentially sort and expedite many people who want to transfer to PC. It would cut down on the amount of time fdev would have to spend on moving every single asset of every single account as there will be a starting point and a target to transfer to.
Having this system in place will allow frontier to sort those that can be transferred quickly, from others who cannot. If, for example, someone selects only a single checkbox from each row, merging commanders would become as simple as copying and pasting. I’m not claiming to know everything that goes behind the scenes for accounts information, the closest my experience gets me is software development, however I do not feel that this process wouldn’t help not only the general playerbase, but frontier as well In getting through the tedium that is player information.
I’m sure they have been other threads concerning this topic, but at a cursory glance I did not spot any, so please bear with me if this is a tried and tired topic. I’m happy to hear any constructive criticism on it and possible changes to how you’d want to see it implemented.
