Console Update

You should actually read the announcement.

"The fact that the game is supported on PC but no longer on consoles" in NOT correct. Consoles have the same game today that they had last week.
It'll receive no new content or QoL updates ever again. We have waited 10 months pretty patiently to hear this news, that console players will never get out of their seats and walk about their FCs and stations. We're never going to be welcomed to the party so what's the point in continuing?
Surely you can understand the anger and disgust in the blatant dismissal of the console player base by FDev?
Keeping the servers running until there's no console players left is a cop out instead of compensating us for outstanding ARX balances.

Mother of God. That's impressive. Congratulations.
M'lud, I have played a computer game for 4,000 hours. At £8 an hour, I seek damages in the amount of £32,000.
For playing a computer game?
Yes. I devoted 4,000 hours of my time to a game that I loved that I can no longer play.
Wait, you loved it, and you want paying for it?
Yes, but I can't play it any more.
Why not?
Because they said I can't download extra bits.
Can you still play the previous bits?
Yes, but they promised the extra bits.
I.... see. How much did you pay for the extra bits they didn't deliver?
Nothing, m'lud. They were never available in the first place.
So bought a computer game, played it and enjoyed it, can still play it and enjoy it if you want to, but you...
Wait, wait, wait. Lemme tell you about my arx...
GET. OUT. NOW.
Hang on, you CLEARLY know nothing about law, I wrote them a letter asking for money and they ignored it, so by default...
That's it, arrest this imbecile, 30 days in the clink!!!!

When they shut the servers down completely and you have zero access to it, then you may have a slim chance. At the moment you have complete access to what you've purchased. I'm on console as well and have the same access today as I did on Wednesday.
Sure, access to Horizons will not be closed... but how many players will log on a game being aware that 1) if they're planning to move on PC all that they're grinding couldn't be available [as FDEV didn't say anything about that] 2) if they're not planning to move on PC, the game will not offer any new content in the future?

2) is particularly affecting veteran/day 1 players, who have already done in the game a lot of stuff...

They couldn't even have full profile transfer ready or give a detailed breakdown of how they would try and make it happen.

FD backstabs us and gives 0 hope our profiles can ever be saved.

This frustration is understandable, but everything you have paid for was for Horizons as it is. The game as you have available to you on console is fit for purpose. Just because continued support in terms of features aren't coming doesn't change that.

Which shows that they are also capable of doing the same to PC players at any point so I'd suggest keeping your balances low and only spend on what you need.
Why? Because you are unhappy?
I'll spend whatever amount of money I wish, because I want to, sorry Old Chap, I won't cut off my nose just to spite my face, but feel free to do so if you wish.

ETA: Frontier will close ED down on all platforms at some point in time, it doesn't really matter when they do, just that, during the time I've played the game I have had fun with it, and spent money for my own vanity. Why would I feel disrespectful when a game ends its life?

I was against ARX as a whole from the beginning. I hate MTX currencies for these reasons, let alone that they're mildly (or moderately) predatory.

Easy to say that when you're not the one affected.

You know literally any online game can do that if they wish and many have.

Anything I put towards a game is disposable income and if I at some point down the line am unable to access it anymore then that's life.

While I would still recommend keeping balances low (from the perspective of MTX being a terrible consumer option) this is the reality.

None of what you say is unique to FDev, it's a justified criticism of the gaming industry overall but to single out FDev whilst ignoring greater issues elsewhere, and not ever give FDev credit for the good things they have done, makes your points moot in regards to your argument. Their content reminds me of negative political campaign ads.

I'm pretty sure they have not always been negative about fdev or the game. Nor have they been entirely negative about various recent updates. It's just most of those points are just overcome with the things they consider bad and the good are lost in the forest or a distant memory.

But it's also not their responsibility to be impartial. Nor does their impartiality cause the game to be worse than it is. They're not really impacting masses of people who haven't directly experienced the game - they're not that well known. They're being watched by people who are directly experiencing the game...so it's not like they can motivate people to believe something they wouldn't otherwise believe.

This isn't like a political ad where you, as a common person have only your personal experience and you're relying on other people to give you insight in things you have no experience of or expertise in but need to care about like what is often in political ads and what not. This is like a book club where we're all reading the same book and there are some people who are not shy about talking about it - having mostly things that aren't nice to say about it as they read further and further in the story.

Can't really start a fight on "fit for purpose" about what might happen in the future.
It's pretty easy.

Abandon thousands of dedicated players and have no system in place to transfer their full profiles.

Then give nothing but vague responses.

Then wait as people realize they have zero idea if they will ever be able to continue using that commander ever again beyond horizons.

Watch as people lose faith and assume the worst.

Same faith could happen for PC Horizons, if they're not able to merge the galaxies... unless the offer Odyseey for free :D (but it's more a matter of hardware requirements than the bucks needed to buy the game).

Actually, yes since I'm talking about before the launch. Where they stated it was coming to all systems.

Hence parity.
I feel like we need to define a lie. I tell my daughter on Monday that I'll take her to the park on Saturday. On Saturday we have a torrential downpour, the park is flooded, and we can't go...did I lie to her on Monday when my intention was to take her to the park?

Communication still sucks from FDEV, sure, but the only harm here is not being able to buy what was essentially a future product that didn't come to market after expressed intents to do so. This doesn't kill the console version of the game, it'll be stagnant, just like it was during Beyond. (And what a disappointment Beyond was story/feature wise..)

Pretty much this. Thank you for spelling it out for everyone, even those who think they understand but do not.
