Exactly this, Sony/MS won't license it in the state it was released on PC and FDev would have had to make a FINISHED EDO for consoles.Your game must be good or it is not allowed on consoles.

Frontier Development are officially liars and failuresGreetings Commanders,
Elite Dangerous is a game close to my heart.
It’s no secret that Odyssey’s launch was less than ideal, including the need to split the PC/console player base to focus on a PC-only launch. Since Odyssey’s release in May 2021, we have worked tirelessly to improve the Odyssey experience on PC, and whilst we have made great progress there is still more to be done. We have been supporting the pre-Odyssey and post-Odyssey codebases since.
Over the last several months, we have been wrestling with the best way to move forward, and it is with a heavy heart we have decided to cancel all console development. We need to be able to move forward with the story of the game, and in order for us to do this we need to focus on a single codebase. Elite Dangerous will continue on console as it is now together with critical updates, but we will focus on new content updates on PC on the post-Odyssey codebase.
We appreciate this news is not what our console community were hoping for. This was not an easy decision to make, but it was made with the long-term future of Elite Dangerous in mind.
You know, it just dawned on me...maybe time for Elite 2 on a better engine?
You know, it just dawned on me.
The Unreal Engine is owned by Epic Games.
Epic Games is owned by Tencent.
Guess who owns a stake in Frontier...?
1. Frontier Developments had Jeff Goldblum do voice work for Jurassic World Evolution.Struggling to see how only another three links will get you to Kevin Bacon.
Maybe Kevin Bacon loves life on the frontier?!I'm struggling to see how only another three links will get you to Kevin Bacon.
Your cosmetics aren't affected by clearing your save. A popular and less drastic move might be to consume all your spare credits by transferring them to your carrier account, or buying a load of expensive ships.o7 Everyone, I'm a console Cmdr on PS4 with 1000's of hours in the game, all the ranks grinded out and just 30% short of Triple Elite, all the ships, engineering and a couple of billion in credits. There's no way I can ever afford a gaming pc and I've been considering deleting my Cmdr and starting out from scratch as an attempt to stay motivated and in the game. I was just wondering if I did this, would I still have access to everything I've bought in the ARX store? Is it linked to my account, or the Cmdr? Also ant thoughts on whether or not to do this at all would be appreciated.
Lol, already have multiples of all the ships. Thx for the reply.Your cosmetics aren't affected by clearing your save. A popular and less drastic move might be to consume all your spare credits by transferring them to your carrier account, or buying a load of expensive ships.
Then make political donations to the factions of your favourite superpower (ahem, Federation) every time you dock and open the Missions -> Support tabs in the (Federation) starport menu and see donation missions offered (by the Federation).Lol, already have multiples of all the ships. Thx for the reply.
Yes. And you will keep your friends and private group memberships, even if you choose a different CMDR name. Your Holo-Me will be deleted though, so if you want to keep that, take screenshots of the settings in the Holo-Me editor before deleting the save.I was just wondering if I did this, would I still have access to everything I've bought in the ARX store?
You're entitled to your opinion of course but FDev are not spending the money on this game. We are. Just because you aren't driving the narrative does not mean that there is none. Your entitlement to play the game your way is not affected by those of us that have put epic efforts into this game that have so far been largely ignored by the devs is a disservice to us as players and supporters of this game. If on the other hand you are a streamer then you get anything you want (Sorry Obsidian Ant and Down to Earth Astronomy but it's true).Hate to disagree with you here old fruit but Fdevs version of the story IS the Story, they are the ones spending the money developing the game, most of us don't get involved on player driven stuff as we are in solo.
To ask them to stop driving the story becasue a few players disagree and think they know better is a bit arrogant (no disrespect intended).

This is a good point, I don't have any issues with my original, early PS4 playing any great looking big games, NMS and Red Dead online work perfectly fine. Games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West look incredible and work perfectly. IMO Odyssey just really doesn't seem to be that impressive graphically for it to justify such hefty sys. req's. Never mind the fact that performance on PC is still not up to par even 10 going on 11 patches and almost a year down the line. People with high spec machines are still reporting sub-optimal performance where their setups usually handle anything they throw at it with ease. To me it seems the problems are less to do with consoles and more to do with the Cobra engine itself. It's interesting that when it comes to claims of consoles "getting in the way of PC progress", it seems to be forgotten that you have graphics settings on PC versions so that people with lower spec hardware can still play the game. Is it also your view that this should be removed so that this does not hold you back?
If you say so. Personally I think you are just trying to downsize me with semantics and in that you will fail. Then make a start yourself. Because...
You forgot to include the word "some". Either that, or you are interpolating yourself to many, which is also very popular in this forum. If I were to do the same, I could justifiably call your statement false.
Er … unless I missed an about-face by Bethesda … if you’re waiting for Starfield on PlayStation, you’ll be disappointed …I've been out in the black since Odyssey dropped, waiting for PS4 news and avoiding the other forums as I didn't want to stumble on any spoilers. Was just journeying back home when I read this post, not sure for what purpose now as I am still a long way out. Will probably finish the journey, sell the fleet carrier and mothball my ships. I really thought ED was always going to be there for me, PS4 short term and PS5 longer term, but that door has now been closed, I guess I will wait for Bethesda Starfield and see how that works out.
o7 cmdrs, it has been a real pleasure, signing off now, over and out.
Currently playing Odyssey on PC … using a PS5 controller. And you actually get less buttons that way because Steam doesn’t understand the 4-button-touch-pad-thingy properly.if they can cover all the flight stuff on a pad, and the SRV on a pad..... the FPS stuff should be simple. it's not like you need to fly a ship and run on foot at the same time so the same physical buttons can be reused.

Xbox One pad player here... am intrigued how PS5 pad support in Windows works these days, as I fancied switching to a PS pad for a while but was put off by the faffing about with 3rd party tools to make it work... has this improved since I checked (perhaps 1-2 years ago)?Currently playing Odyssey on PC … using a PS5 controller.
