Control options not working, keyboard not responding

Elite Dangerous crashed when I tried to quit to main menu. After a restart the keyboard was not responding in game or at the main menu. Mouse remains responsive. After a system boot I tried to access Main menu -> Options -> Controls, but nothing happens when I click the "CONTROLS" panel with mouse (see picture), other clickable panels work fine. Same happens with Elite Dangerous: Horizons, Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Arena. I can press ESC while the Elite logo is loading and skip the intro, but after that there is no keyboard response wihin the program. Elsewhere my keyboard works fine and responds to all Windows-related keys (alt-tab etc.) at all times.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Update: running the game on another PC works just fine. Apparently the issue is related to one installations of the game. I will probably try to reinstall.

Try deleting the Custom.binds file first. You'll have to rebind everything of course.

Thanks, tried renaming "Custom.3.0.binds" to something else, no help, also the program did not create a new binds file.

Worked, thanks! I was also able to use a copy of my old custom binds file without the need to reconfigure controls.

Oh and I am using keyboard and mouse. I have intentions of adding a VR headset, this means customizing a lot of keyboard and mouse controls in such a way that I can use them without any need to look at either of the controllers. So far I have configured 12 macro keys to my mouse and the rest are at the left hand side of the keyboard.

Wow! Some respect to you for the idea - let us know how it works out when you get your headset. Do you have a particular VR HMD in mind?
