Newcomer / Intro Controls: UI stupidly focuses Comms panel in middle of combat

Ok, so I'm not a newcomer, but I've never had this problem before:

I play with dual joysticks on the PC; no VR. Today during an extended bounty hunting session in my Vulture, it happened multiple times during hard maneuvering that the cockpit shifted so much it suddenly zoomed in on the Comms panel [2] -- and then the weapons wouldn't fire (bc the game thought I wanted to do Comms). Which was unfortunate bc I had to do these hard maneuvers to bring my fixed weapons to bear.

I already checked the Controls menu to figure out how to suppress this behaviour, but wasn't successful. Can anybody tell me where the correct setting can be found?

Popping up the menu when you look at it? Somewhere IIRC in the UI focus section, selectable for each of the four menus. Something like "when looking at panel" - select "does nothing".
Other possibilities: depending on what kind of controls you have on your sticks, assign something to manually control your view direction and don't blink look.
Or, if you want to keep the pop-up behaviour, reassign your controls so that the menu controls are not overlapping with your flight controls. This way, your flight controls won't be remapped to the menu controls when one of the windows pops up, and you can use both simultaneously.

What's odd... "does nothing" is not available for the comms panel o_O It is for the other panels.

There is an option for "enable UI camera lock on" but I'm not sure what that does!

EDIT:

Enable UI camera on --> off should have the desired effect.

I'd prefer to disable the pop-up behaviour, but as Tyres said, it's not even possible for the Comms panel. Also keep in mind I'm not really actively trying to "look" at the Comms panel, it just happens when I pull hard turns in the extraordinarily agile Vulture that the field of view shifts so much that the panel approaches the center of the screen.
BTW is there a way to reduce this behaviour? It bugs me anyway that half the time I can't see the shield/hull displays bc the game shifts them out of sight when I pitch up.

ANYWAY,
reassign your controls so that the menu controls are not overlapping with your flight controls.
I just did this and I reckon it should do the trick, so thanks for the pointer. ^^

That's really strange - as I remember disabling this for all panels years ago (as I'm using headtracking this behavior must be disabled). Probably this option became "hidden"? I'll check...

You can select the option to "Does Nothing" - it is certainly there on my installation:

Told you it was probably me! D'oh! Sorry all!

Oh, and welcome back @Para Handy ;)

EDIT Actually, in my defence, I have seen a few oddities lately on the panels: yesterday, I couldn't navigate them and there was no sound when selected. A quit desktop and relaunch sorted it.

Checked. Yeah, the option is still there. Interesting that the "dropdown arrow" is presented only for comms panel - the rest can be changed by simple clicking.

Comms panel is also the only one with three options - the other three only toggle between "show panel" and "nothing"
