Convoy Dispersal Pattern?

So anyone know what these are actually good for? They seem to make up about 90% of USS so there must be a point to them, just wondering what that is.

Depends on what you're trying to do.

For example, if you're a pirate, load up some hatch-breaker limpets and steal their cargo.

If you're not, and there's a threat level, then go there and see if pirates show up and then you can fight them.

Scan the ships to get data.

Blow them all up and affect the owning factions inf.

If you are a righteous dude, you can go to the threat 2 and above and wait on some pirate meat to feast on. Bonus is they usually are in Pythons and Annies so the mat droppings are good.
If you are not so righteous, you can go to the threat 2 and above and wait on the pirates, then blow everyone up for the goods. win win

Apparently it can still occasionally be found in civil war systems, transported by heavily defended military convoys.. I haven't seen any Hafnium 178 convoys in a long time.

Pirates show up? I did drop in on one but there was a few ships doing pretty much nothing. I guess I'll look for the higher threat ones then, didn't notice the threat levels.

Basically if they're Threat 0, you scan or pirate them.

If they're Threat 2, you sit around and hope pirates show up. My experience has been this does not always happen.

Same. If you’re in a high security system the law will show up too if pirates do. Good source of mats and if you’re low ranked wait for the police to turn up and fight with them against the pirates
