Core Dynamics purchasing SRV company...I smell change at last!!!

As announced a while back, The In-game company Core Dynamics bought out the company who produces the current SRV model (company name escapes me). this could mean some big news to those of us who speculate, and I love to speculate ;)

what this could mean, is there is now a narrative driven excuse for a Core Dynamics style SRV to be added. given Core Dynamics' history, they thoroughly specialise in combat vessels.

Hopefully, the very long awaited addition of a new SRV is on it's way, and likely to be a Combat SRV (I am really hoping that it's a tank!! with Railgun cannon and plasma repeater Coax!)

If you want to speculate even further! Core Dynamics' rival company Gutamaya may release a competitor SRV with different flavour, being true to Gutamaya, this SRV would be fast, light and graceful in movement ( expect a space Bugatti basically :D )

to Speculate beyond speculation! the other companies may release their versions as well! (LAKON releases a brick with wheels to carry cargo, Falcon DeLacey brings us some sort of 'blast from the past' vehicle with wires still hanging out, Saud Kruger releases a glamourous bus for surface tourism (if such a thing existed) and Zorgan Peterson builds a SRV that can only move forward fast and hardly turn (drag car SRV :D )

What are your thoughts/ speculation with this news? do you believe we are finally getting a new SRV/s?

Take Care! o7

Would it be enough for them to look different but perform identically? As a 'worst case' scenario?

Beyond that, personally I'd like a scavenger SRV - 8 ton cargo rack, slow, slightly better shields, slightly worse weaponry.

A heavily armed SRV with a plasma accelerator on top and plasma repeater secondary weapon with no cargo or data scanner but a point defense. Slow but heavy with limited vertical thruster capability but at least it doesn't get buffeted around by Guardian Sentinels.

Gutamaya can do the opposite.

And Lakon got the transport vehicle.

Yeah I’m really hoping for an SRV with more cargo space, not too bothered about the pew...

The problem is that the current doors for the planetary vehicle hangar on most ships only look capable of unloading something the size of the current SRV (and even that folds up), can’t expect to get a tank to drop out the back of the Sidey.

As we’re just speculating here...

It would be cool if larger class hangers lowered a ramp and you could drive out bigger/better SRV’s from the back of your ship, rather than being unceremoniously plopped out like a turd from the Anaconda...

Modular based SRV.
Modules:
  1. Power Plant: As per existing mechanic
  2. Shields: As per existing mechanic
  3. Weapons/Utilities 2 x slots. One for each side. Can be changed. Can equip weapons or mining equipment or salvaging equipment.
  4. Storage: Remove storage for lighter SRV. Add storage for heavier build, but carries a lot more.
  5. Wheels: Replace with Wheels, Treads or Guardian Hover technology.

Now there's a thought - increase the size of the hanger on larger ships and have small, medium, large classes of SRV.

Instead of two hanger bays, you pick one which takes up two slots (for example), but allows you to carry a much bigger class of SRV.
Add in some surface mining, and you've got yourself a mobile drilling platform and refinery.
Or, build a "tank spec" SRV and you and friends have a small vehicle army. Replace the weapons with missiles, and you have anti-air. Put in some Rail's and you've got a bit of a sniper SRV.
Engineer it all..

Oh, look .. PvP Ground-based Planet Battles.

Although I don't want to fan the flames of hope, if you have bases you can have hangars of any size that could manufacture any form of SRV.

I'd love to see a combat specialized SRV with two weapons on the turret but no cargo space, secondly a cargo beast with 4-8t capacity but unarmed, and last not least a skimmer type flying SRV with only light weaponry and no cargo space to ge able to collect materials from vertical geological sites.

I'd love some SRV variety.

With offensive Guardian and Thargoid Surface units, an SRV tank for example would be noice.

(PLUS Fdev have new avenues for cosmetics to Cha-cha-Ching)

Honestly id like to see something like a Skimmer for player control or even to be able to the ship fighters. Something heavier with better weapons, better shields and a better power distributor would be great though. Even being able to engineer the SRV would be amazing.

If it means they look like this and hover about 1m off the ground then yes, #SpaceBusaBoyzLivesMatter...FD make it happen. I can see it now... The annual, Gallactic Canyon Super Hover Bike Championships 3305!

Oh no another players self hyped thread based on unrelated galnet stories...
How I wish I'm wrong... New SRV's specialized configurable and in different sizes could actually partially fill the gap between here and the end of 2019...🤩
