Core-Trippers

Sagittarius A*

Its a popular destination. I went there just to see it for myself.

When I got back home (8 weeks later) I was stunned and delighted to be rewarded with 66 million credits and a rank of Pioneer! This was way more than I was expecting (a big thank you to Commander 777Driver for pointing me in the direction of a huge neutron field on the way home).

I would imagine that I could have earned much much more or way less credits, and that got me wondering how other players fared on their core trip.....

If you're happy to share, I'd love to know....

How did you do ?

I set off on the 25th of Feb for my 45 day voyage.

I'm still out here.

I'd say it's going quite well. Will I qualify to post here when I get back... it was technically a core trip after all ;)

I'm on my 2nd attempt within the last two month's and currently am around 6500ly from Sagi A.

My first attempt went spectacularly wrong at around 3000ly from the core when I decided to take some fancy pants shots in an ice field around a pink and most pleasant gas giant. :)

A skool boy error of forgetting to decelerate while taking a holiday shot ended my 6 week trip in a muted and unspectacular explosion after not noticing a large chunk of Ice hurting towards me.....

I never the less screamed at my keyboard, mouse, other half and sulked for a week.

Since then I have been making my way as fast as I can to Sagi-A with a quick honk of the space horn and a fast scoop.

With any luck I will make it this time and put a nice shot on the visitors page.

My only trip to Sag A* was a fast one. Get there, scan, get home. I think it took just under 2 weeks, roughly one each way. I didn't scan much other than the honk, so I think I got around 20-30M on that trip.

I'm currently on my 2nd trip to the area, with the slightly closer focus of Great Annihilator, which I missed the 1st time. I got there somewhat quickly, but taking it slow on the way back now making small jumps along a patch of neutron stars. Should be a good earner. Only crashed into two of them, so I do need to be careful!

I set off 16 February for my Second Expedition and I'm still out there.
Got to SagA* on 25 April.
Currently proceeding through my survey project.
75 kylies travelled so far.

Rough estimate of data is in the region of 120-140million so far.

My results pretty much matched yours. I know I could've gained a lot more money but I was kind of explored out and made a bee-line back honking and scooping for 1000s of light years at a time. I scanned a few systems that caught my eye but there so many I didn't even look at.

I've got the bug though, and I'll be back :)

I should add that I predict my data is probably in the 100-125m mark at the moment but that will rise naturally.

I did a lot of honk & scoop but now I am travelling much slower through a region that has neutrons spaced about 30ly apart. It's quite relaxing, got through two books while exploring last week :)

I took off on April 30th to see how the Clipper fared with no destination in mind. Two weeks later I realized that I was halfway to Sagittarius A* and figured I'd go for it and sign the visitor list.

Should be getting back in a few days. This was a very meandering / wandering / not straight at all kind of a trip (I spent a few days hunting giant stars before I hit the core, for example). I passed through the "west" neutron field on the way there and the "east" on the way back. I didn't actively farm though, if they were on my route then great! I'll have my results soon!

3rd trip here, first destination was the eagle nebula, it was so disappointing that i continued to the skaude nebula. well, now im 7kylie away from the core, combing through the big neutron star field, looking for earthlikes and other nifty stuff to make big bucks ;)
best so far was this:

1 neutron star, 2 elw's, 2 terraformable water planets and 6 terraformable high metal planets. im really curious how much it will be worth

I set of on 15th April and arrived at Sag A* on 5th May (1050 systems visited). Done another 1150 systems on my way back and am still 10 Kylies from home. I hit some Neutron fields and several Black Holes. I keep deviating and snaking off course but I expect to get home soon and my aim is to reach Elite status from this exploration.

I think my first trip was around 25-30m on an almost purely honk basis.

I'm out there on another trip already with no direct route apart from heading in the general direction of Sag.A to then go to the Great Annihilator.

However, I looked for a certain star class thinking, oooh I'd like to go and see one of those, and it turns out, I was the first one to discover it a few weeks ago.

In essence, I'm "discovering" systems I've already been to. Kinda cool.

Just looked in more detail at my current trip. Done about 1200 systems in a month, the last 350 or so almost exclusively neutron stars. If I were to head straight back it would still take another 700 jumps or so. I am slowly going back, but the neutron star field I'm in seems to remain quite thick for another 4kLY or so.

Going there in an Orca. The jump range means I will be out here for months. That's just to get half way lol...

I left civilized space on April 19th.. i knew Sag A was already scanned.. so i set sail for different areas... HOWEVER... Sag A is on my list of places to visit this run.. Just so i can say i been there.... so far i am still 2000-3000 Ly from Sag A...while having covered more than 1200 systems and 30k Ly of jumps... i'm ( barring getting ganked at Sag A.. i play open only) probably still 2 months away from hitting Civilized space again.

Nice to see others as enthusiastic for exploration as i am.....also..@!^#&$)(^# to those sitting and waiting for explorers in distant lands...

What % of space honks and detailed scan's have you done?

I honk every system and scan every main star (creating permanent record of my journey). Beyond that, I'll only surface scan interesting bodies like ELWs, water worlds, neutrons, and black holes.

I've read several posters on the forum who seem to consider just scanning the main star to be a form of galactic vandalism !

Personally I think there's enough stars for everyone.....do ya'll disagree with that ?
