Hi,
I really enjoy core mining yet I find it not as joyful as I expected because there are so few cores at Rings. I tried 4 different spots (Icy and Metal-Rich), in Icy rings I looked for cores for 1 hour and found only 1. I am very familiar of the shapes of the cores. In another search, I looked for 30 minutes for a core yet found only 1.
This is a video demonstrating how rare are cores in rings. There are so few 'glowing' cores and very low percentage of them are really cores. My suggestion would be to increase core rate in rings, to balance out the economy, sell prices can be lowered.
My ultimate suggestion would be to get rid of "one asteroid shape for cores" system and distribute cores randomly amongst several shapes. But make 'glowing asteroids' dense in the rings so that players can engage more in the process, throwing prospector limpets and seeing if it's a core.
Currently, core mining is really not engaging. 90% percent of mining work goes to search. Although game design of it is pretty good, noone can get the most out of it because of the 'rarity' of cores.
Best,
Cuneyt
EDIT: Here I am trying to find a core for 15 minutes:
