Coriolis Station With A Twist

I've seen several theories about what these things sticking out the side of this station are. (High gravity labs, construction arms, etc.)

Any idea what they definitively are? This was the first one I had ever seen. (And no, I can't remember where I was...)

I don't think they are for capital ships...

The gravity in those modules at the end of the arms will be higher, and possibly more like Earth-levels.

I believe that these are premium living quarters, for the wealthy.

How else would extremely large ships dock? Until proven otherwise I see no better explanation.

By that logic, stations have to dock. Dock with what?

I'm of the belief that capital ships are like mobile stations.

They are supplied by smaller shuttle vessels, including crew rotations.

But wouldn't it be awfully hard to dock with something spinning that fast? Usually docking is done with zero spinning motion.

This too. Docking a ship as huge as a Farraguut (however you spell it), would be impossible at that point.

Like I say, capital class vessels will be resupplied by small shuttle vessels. No need to dock anywhere. They are designed to be a fully functional mobile space-faring platform, supplied by smaller ships, just like how stations are supplied by smaller ships.

Although everything is weightless in space, everything still has mass and inertia. Even if you could fly a capital ship in fast enough circles to dock with an arm, it would pull the station out of its stationary orbit immediately.
