General / Off-Topic Cosmos - the series on National Geographic

I'm very well aware of the low quality of most documentaries these days and to be honest, with De Grasse Tyson I expected this series to be another one-a-dozen product that is about black holes, and how the Sun will swallow Earth etc. and that I won't learn anything from it.

After an underwhelming first episode, however, this series evolved to a fantastic experience showing truly novel information with properly sentimental/philosophical touch - eye opening and a work of art. It feels like a celebration of science and human achievement.

I'm not sure how much of the script was made by De Grasse Tyson, but this -in my eyes- lifts him way above the other sci-fi celebrities. I highly recommend watching it as a whole starting with the first episode.
