Costs for FC crew

As you all know we currently pay a hefty price for the upkeep of out fighter crew for SLF, they take a a set amount of % of all our earning if they are hired, independent whether they are on board or just sitting at home waiting for your return from Beagle Point.
I can only assume that FC need a crew too when you are away (pilot, flight control, deck hand, emptying the garbage bins, etc). So it would only be consistent if we had to pay an upkeep for the FC crew too. Let's assume a crew of 5 that take 10% of all you future earnings. Wouldn't that sound fair? :)

So, this makes me believe the actual FC won't be THAT expensive after all, it will just take 50% of all your future earnings.
On the plus side, because the FC is indestructible, they won't die. Ever!

No, my company does not pay me a percentage of their income :mad:
I receive a fix salary. That should be for the FC crew too.
I would pay a team of 20 people 5000 cr/month each. It makes 12 milion credits for the next 10 years. This amount of credit is so low compared to the cost of a FC that we can assume that the cost of the FC already includes the salary for the crew for the next 10 years.

No FDEV was harmed in the making of this post.
 
The crew can expect to take a portion of the FC's profit. If the crew and ship make no credits the crew can expect room & board. My FC will come equipped with a plank for any of the crew that may require a 'walk'.

And what if the up front cost is not a purchase, just a deposit - there's also the weekly HP payments to consider.
Then there's running repairs and 'integrity' costs.
Damned thing's a money pit.
 
Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could simply assign our excess crew to our carriers and Support Ships, and not have to invent yet a whole other set of game mechanics?

Just think about this - a single pilot can already operate a massive ship like a Cutter, Anaconda or Beluga all by themselves. So why shouldn’t a single magical Crew NPC, gifted to be waiting for you at any station or installation you visit be able to operate a carrier or Support ship on their own?

Next, add to this that we can already hire and retain 3 Crew members, but we can only take 1 at a time with us to operate a Fighter, which leaves 2 sitting around, painting their nails, getting their hair done, eating bonbons, all on your dime. And Two just so happens to be the exact number of additional vessels that will need staffed - a carrier and a Support Ship.

Who says they’ll have any NPC crew at all?

NPC crew are only there to fly SLFs, which is something we can do. As far as we know, the only onboard interactions we’ll have with FCs are landing, launching, and starport menu stuff. Everything else will likely just be another menu like Holo-Me.

This is FDev we’re talking about, afterall. They’ll take the easy way out.

I always do this. Every time my crew dies I go through a hire/terminate contract phase for dozens of Harmless pilots until I get one that isn't a potato face. Then I go to a CZ, hazres or compromised beacon to level them up to at least Expert rank.

For people who don't know:

Their rates only go up 1% per rank, so you pay half for Expert, as they only take 6% instead of 12%.

You also get to know your crew a little better spending so much time with them. I've even wrote down memorials to each of my fallen Crew. Rhea Ferrell was my first. An orphan who never found her parents, killed in Shin by gankers. lol

In so much as there is no point to advancing past Rear Admiral or King; I suggest that part of the ship cost in addition to cr's, the owner must be an Admiral or King.
 
It would be nice to be able to pay hired NPC crew for ships first before thinking of NPC crew for FCs. (<Sighs wistfully> How I wish we could hire crew like I did in Elite II (but without the inability to fly a ship if we didn't have them).) :)
