Could ATR ships be added to waypoints for expeditions like DW?

To be clear, it makes perfect sense (to me) that I could go to the next exploration site of interest (in an unpopulated system) and destroy every CMDR that ever turns up there over and over and over and never incur a negative outcome. :)

So 1.
So we disagree then...

And you honestly don't even think the notion of the Pilots Federation pointing out to other members (CMDRs) that you've been destroying dozens of other members daily, might be a logical game universe and game play move? Really? You really want things to be that extreme and "unfair" and bent to your preference?

How dare you! [mad]

I will double my efforts.

edit: that is one hell of a nicely worded sentence though. I want to marry it and have it's babies.

The babies would be disfigured, hunch-backed versions of David Bowie and live under a bridge making bad jokes.

I can understand why the DW2 organizers would rather err on the side of caution than inclusion and wouldn't begrudge them for that if they had rejected my application, nor would I take out a perceived slight by a third party on random characters in-game.

Of course, I never applied to DW2 in any official capacity nor used any of their resources that weren't publicly posted on this forum. No reason for me to waste a slot in someone's PG or discord channel when I keep my CMDR in Open and wouldn't encounter them anyway.

Pilots Federation should be invoked as little as possible IMHO. It’s the ultimate space-wizard handwave and has been since day one of the original game. If you can’t think of a better way to justify and frame a play mechanic or piece of lore than PF nonsense, you’re better off leaving it out of the game. PF in Elite is worse than the whole ANIMUS framing device in Assassins Creed, and serves the same purpose.

We should be able to leave the Pilots Federation, surrender our fancy insurance packages, and preferential rates at interstellar factors, losing that CMDR prefix and hollow sensor indicator in exchange.

Quite right.

Remember when Mobius was infiltrated, Mobius was blamed (by those who infiltrated of course) for not vetting the players? They can't win. If they don't, it's on them when something happens, if they do, it's on them as well.

They choose the best bad decision.

So if it wasn't for DG2, you wouldn't be out there?

DG2 provided you, who would otherwise not be a part of this, with a reason to be part of DWE2. Perhaps you're even having a good time. Damnit. That's the first positive of DG2 I heard that's credible. [mad]

(apart from the forum giggles of course)

I'm not adverse to exploration and had been planning to take another long journey at some point, but I probably would not have opted for the DW2 style of guided tour with an actual itinerary, without the potential threat provided by the DG members.

Going to Sag A* in an FDL pre-jumprange boosts made it pretty clear you're not adverse to exploration :)

Also, I was wrong. The other positive is that Ziljan can take a welcome break from mind numbing Full Spectrum System Snorefest Scanning.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to look for a good place to hide. You guys never saw me.

“I am a great warrior. Let me help you. Let me join you. It’s a dangerous world out there and I can protect you.”
”No thanks, you seem like a bit of a loose cannon and we’re not sure we can trust you.”
”Deny ME, will you? I’ll kill you. So help me I’ll hunt you to the ends of the earth, leaving a trail of bodies in my wake.”

Did I summarize the situation correctly?

Honestly? If someone is told, in a game with guns, that "we'll take pretty much everyone with us other than you.", that is kinda a declaration of... unfriendliness. DWE2 isn't a tiny group of friends or some such. If an open-for-all singles someone out, implying he is an untrustworthy liar, then I dont see the issue with someone taking in-game offense to that. And if DWE insinuates someone is untrustworthy out-of-game, than I wouldn't be surprised if he were not that pleased by it in real life.

"Hey there is a party, everyone is invited!"
"Cool, shall I bring some wine?"
"No, get lost. You are a lying untrustworty POS."

*punch*

Side note JB (et al), enclosing IMG (or video) tag in Spoiler tag makes the reading experience feel a lot less like you're ganking my browser (sadly unsupported on a few devices/browsers).

The drama just went Spinal Tap :)

They're not extreme and unfair. And it isn't my preference, it is simply the way it is, and I have no problem with it. There should be danger in the galaxy, from whatever source.

Haven't read whole thread but I'm not sure it's possible to become wanted in lawless space. I think FDev would have to add Security Status to systems to make ATR work at all and I'm not very convinced that's a great idea lightyears from nowhere. That and explorer builds should be able to outrun ganks, binding next in route and keeping a high wake target in left panel at all times.

I'm sure it's a considerable a pain to have DG2 on DWE's tail but from the outside I'm finding the cat and mouse pretty interesting to follow .. a different flavour from DWE, I imagine smaller groups of trusted friends making rendezvous 'near' waypoints (DWE had huge group meets)? Waypoints then become more of a timing thing than an exact position target and I think that's cool.

It is ironic how many of the "griefers" seem like the nicer chaps IRL than many of the explorers, based on the vitriol in this and related threads.

It is possible I am letting out decades of pent up bile from having been the teachers-pet/good-son/family provider/driver-who-uses-turn-signals/whatever/etc by violently murdering asp-Xs. But I'm not going to let one of those medicine men put me on a couch for $200 an hour to tell me this.

I'd prefer it if the bulk of the danger in exploration was related to uncertainty, attrition, and isolation, rather than all those Cutters and frag Phantoms looking sport, but I'll take what I can get.
