Could we please have a web browser on one of the side panels?

Talk about immersion breaking. Just want to google the England football result back in 2016. Need to check where I can sell these goods on a webpage.

The alternative is taking off the headset that immerses you in the first place. So having an in-game HUD browser would be good. I often played Elite before VR with my second display showing a series or watching YouTube etc.

I'd prefer to have something like Big Screen for Vive. Let me position where I want the screen etc.

Would love one. The old between the legs screen would have been a great spot but I don't think it will happen. I will just have to stick with staring down the nose airgap at an ipad.

oh my please no!!
but if it's about the elite universe, then yes.
a browser that is update with commercial roots, the wanted page, place to visit page, the unexplored areas page and in between some mystery :D

I would prefer it's own page, like the galaxy map, to avoid glitches/bugs with the game ;-)

Your a billion light years from Sol, and you want a web browser? I doubt any wifi signals strong enough anyway, this is a space sim, not virtual desktop in space.

I'm not a fan of the idea either, but, you can get Galnet news feed out in the black. I'm more in favor of backing up your exploration data (maybe for a nominal fee) from the black, way more than searching for nudies out there.. or watching Downfall parodies.. I have a laptop for that (LOL)..

I hate to take off my HMD to be able to check something from google.
Also: Would this be possible via some mod?

Are you using Steam to start Elite? If so, there is a web browser link if you shift-tab.

Immersion breaking, but to each his own. :)

A web browser would need to take up the whole HUD, like the station buy/sell display, or the Powerplay screens.

The left/right panels wouldn't have an effiective resolution high enough (on todays HMD's) to display a webpage - it'd be grainy and practically illegible.

I guess you could lean in lol. Maybe not.

Miketuppen's idea to switch out to Steam VR browser is probably the best solution here.
