couple of questions

I'm interested in playing Elite: Dangerous, but have a couple of concerns.

a) if I buy the beta for $75 online, what happens when the game goes live? am I automatically upgraded to the gold version or do I have to pay more?

b) when the game is launched, do we lose all the progress made in the beta? that would be very annoying, especially so since I 'paid' to be able to play. not a deal killer, but I'd like to go in with my eyes as wide open as possible.

thanks for taking the time to answer :)

Welcome to the forums!

To answer your questions:

1) If you purchase Beta then you get the Beta and full release versions. Now Frontier wants to do some expansions later on, and you'd have to purchase those extras if and when they become available. However, you'd have the core game.

2) There will most likely be one more progress wipe before the full version is released later this year, yes.

The beta is testing. Its not feature complete. The full game will be different, harder, with different features, values, balance. so it makes sense to reset all stats, infact it isnt really an option, its vital. We are basically playing a different game right now.

There may be many wipes ,there will be many bugs .There will be a reset before gamma and if needed more resets .If you want to help test the game great ,but dont expect everything to work or what you have to stay .
Wait for release if you want to play a game with all its features.
The only thing that is guarunteed is you will keep the skills an knowledge that you have learnt :)

Buy the beta. You will also have the retail version and the bonus pack that included an Eagle and a digital book of concept art and other things too

Buy it! Play online solo mode is quite stable right now. Learn your skills without live player intervention. Learn'n my skills an luv'n it.
See ya in the verse when things are stable for PVP:cool:
