You could, you know, encourage more players to play it.

If nobody wants to play it then what's the point of updating it? I am sure if FDEV saw an active community based around CQC they would do some work on it.......lol what am I saying?

CQC is brilliant, I don't know why more people don't play it.

But if you want the same experience slaughtering NPCs just get your stock Vulture and head out to the nearest low intensity CZ.

I was just thinking this same change. It would probably be simple since they already have AI for fighters and it would then make matchmaking a thing allowing players to start playing it regularly and then hopefully slowly increase interest.

It's been on my wish list for CQC since the darn thing was launched six years ago (is it that long ago?)

1. Bots (start at four and each bot is replaced by a player when they join).
2. Better Matchmaking.
3. Custom Matches (where a player can invite a specific group of people to play).
4.Spectator Mode (where anyone can join and just watch a game play out via several map modes).

Not only is CQC fun to play when you get a full match, it could seriously be a contender in esports if these functions could be included.

It would be great, rewards review for CQC is what really need, if make rewards more attractive then more people would play CQC and then we even can don't get requests about bots adding and other meaningless stuff! Unfortunately, CQC for FDEV is really low priority, they even don't want to give "acknowledged" status to issue about crashed to desktop when playing CQC (https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/44634) although it is quality of life issue, not new functionality.
