CQC Improvements: Global Rewards (Leaderboard)

One thing that is lacking heavily in CQC is reoccurring incentive, they pay is abysmal, there only reason to strive to the top is so far bragging rights and once you do hit that CQC Elite rank there is no further goals to strive for... Until now.

With this suggestion, CQC would gain a visible leaderboard system, this can even be viewed in the main game if users choose. Not only does the leaderboard display a clear representation of player positions, but also provides weekly rewards!

Just like CG's, once per week payouts will be given according to position on the leaderboard's 'Active players' (people who have joined at least one game during the week cycle, preventing a farmable clog up of non-participants ;) ) Among the top 10 CMDRs higher rewards will be scaled, with the best player receiving a grand credit reward of around 100M along with a selection of G5 materials for the main game. Special decals reflecting ranks will also be added as additional incentive and bragging rights!

This would move CQC from being almost a hobby into an In-game career much like for example professional Sports players who compete for the top position for fame, $$$ and entertainment of those watching. with dedicated players being rewarded continuously for their efforts and experience!

The problem with CQC is that it's completely separate from your live game. Nothing you do in CQC comes with a risk so therefore you shouldn't get anything out of it. Now, if they let you wager your save game cash in CQC or you actually lost your game ship in CQC, that'd be different.

I know and understand what you are saying, I see CQC as more of a time investment issue, lots put in for nothing gained. It would be nice for this to change, yes there is no risk to main account, but there is still a lot of skill and dedication involved. and this does need to be acknowledged un some way. they are champions after all! :D

You can currently in the main game sit in dock, being donated the 4th place on wing missions, getting tens of millions of credits for clicking "accept shared mission" and "turn in mission" occasionally. In your starting Freewinder, zero risk.

I can see why you have this principle, but since the rest of the game doesn't stick to it, I don't think a few credits and some materials for spending time actually flying around in CQC and having to work for it is going to be a problem.

The solution is to fix that exploit, not create more.

aww, I was just doing this exact same thing just before! :D

But yeah I guess, but when it comes to community missions and activities, there will ALWAYS be an exploit. Multi crew for instance (although it is a disgraceful rip off) I just have whatever friend sit in the cockpit while I do bounty hunting and such, I get millions and that final bit of combat rank, they get millions and they both have sidewinders! :D

CQC would not be an exploit, just a nice bonus system aside from the game. if people want to strive for the best place instead of playing Elite then let them! and give then some reward for their skill and time investment. It already is really easy to make money in elite through time investment (I make 10M per hour for 0% risk in my corvette doing CZ (sure you get a little dint, but Bi-weaves engineered to the teeth with resistance boosters you'd have to be the worst pilot in the galaxy to fudge that up :D), I make 30-50M per hour doing trade and passenger runs for 0% risk) the only answer to credits in game is time...only time.

So when I say skilled players are rewarded, I don't just mean handouts. the credits will be earned though sweat and devotion. is that really any different to the normal game? :D

And if you're that bad, the risk of accidentally misclicking multiple times while trying to select the CQC option in the main menu and ending up resetting your account is something to seriously consider.

There certainly has to be some compensation for that, though in fairness the existing 10-50k/hour credit earnings from it probably cover it well enough.

what CQC needs is a in game presence and a tournament style feel so ships from all over the galaxy can enter the arena to pit themselves against other like minded players. At present it's a disjointed game which doesn't fill the niche it was designed but with some polish and a ingame section it would take off
