CQC has a pretty loyal fanbase, but let's face it, it hasn't exactly caught on with the masses as well as it could have. The biggest problem by far is that it feels detached from the rest of the game since you have to essentially boot into a second game to play it.
- Make the home system of CD-43 11917 relevant to CQC
- Keep the system permit locked so that only prestige players can access with their own ships, but open it to everyone else to travel out via Apex.
- You could even give dedicated "Parking Spaces" to the top 10 Elite CMDRs
- Don't force users to have to boot a separate game mode, but rather treat it like you are doing Telepresence into a special conflict zone
- Flying in CQC can be like arcade SimPits that CMDRs will access to play.
- My general sentiment is that these should only be available at the CQC station
- Still allow users to jump immediately into CQC so they don't necessarily have to travel to the system just to play it
- The CQC station aesthetics should reflect its purpose
- Have vendors and ship mechanics for setting up ship loadouts
- Holographic leaderboards and actual in-game matches on display
- Holo-Me statues of top performing pilots speckled around the station
- General gameplay and meta improvements:
- Rather than spawning ships in combat space, have them deployed from rapid fighter assembly bays
- Pilots would spawn in their ship in a random launch tube, then watch as they are deployed into the arena
- Allow users to choose their queues so they can choose who they play with.
- Allow for bots in matches
- Often there simply aren't enough players online to play, bots could compensate
- Having entire matches of bots could be useful for the next idea
- Allow CQC matches to be televised
- Users can watch active CQC matches on a sports channel which could make things like Apex travelling more fun.
- This could also be applied to to other sporting endeavors such as Buckyball Racing
- Rather than spawning ships in combat space, have them deployed from rapid fighter assembly bays
- Most importantly, talk to the people that are still playing CQC for feedback.
- The people who play it regularly enjoy it and I would assume they'd be happy to contribute to expanding it further.
