CQC CQC targeting... usual keys not working?

:S During my first match, I remarked that the keys I use a lot to select targets are not working...

This could be very useful to select the dude who's shooting at you e.g.... But the key I assigned for this task (usually 'H') is not responsive...

Are they disabled by design or is it a bug? (You can't configure controls while in CQC so I can't check if the keys are set).

:D this puzzled me enough that I lost my footing in CQC and had a very miserable first match... (O kills)

Yup, by design. You have to have line of sight (bit more complex than that, but essentially) and your prey has to be in front of you to target. This is why targets drop when they go behind asteroids and whatnot.

Makes the whole lets force the CQC ranking onto everyone's ui in solo/open/group even more pointless if the 'skills' from CQC have no use in real combat situations for Elite Dangerous.

Ok. That explains why only the "target in sight" key is working then.

Guess i should have followed the basic CQC training first...

Not really ..
T selects the target, you MUST have the target in front of you, in CQC.
H selects nearest hostile, only works in the main game but selects no matter which way you're pointing.
Which is the easier target to acquire? (ergo .. CQC improves main game skill)

Unless I've messed up, there is none, except for a few videos. Which is a pain; as a left-hander I've got my primary and secondary fire mapped the other way around, in order to make my main lasers be the ones shown on the left-hand side. So I spent the whole of my first attempt at CQC aggressively firing chaff at people in my sights, between trying to escape lock-on with pulse lasers.

I don't like that I can't cycle subsystems but I can select them from the panel. CQC doesn't give you enough time to play with the panel, and often if you do manage it you lose lock due to line of sight and have to start again.

What's the point in selecting subsystems? A full shielded confor dies in around 6 seconds, and if they break LoS you've lost the target anyway.

You can still re-map your fire groups.

now, can someone of those designer please make seperated controls for the cqc? I usually have one button on my mouse to target hostiles. now for cqc i would need to remap that button to something else, while my non-cqc inputs are changed by that too.

That would help so much!

Because not beeing able to target my attacker, needs pure skill to compensate

not.

You get use to the change, you really do.

That said. I do wish that the range/bounding box for target ahead would be relaxed a little bit, I've had to take to spamming my Target Ahead especially when trying lock in a target via headlook and I'm few degrees off.

Try Elite Crosshair..

I use EdTracker and this allows me to set the crosshair (it moves to stay in the centre of your view) and once it's on an enemy hit target ahead to target it.
