Will they ever happen? More game modes would be awesome. Adding in the Taipan as well wouldn't hurt.
But if we need to take baby steps, then focus on new maps over anything else. There's only 4 and it's been that way for an exceedingly long time.

My understanding is that there's something in the beta to try to help out with CQC player numbers first: the ability to queue up while playing in the main game. If that's the case, then I'd venture a guess that they want to first pump those numbers up before putting much more effort into CQC.
