Credits and Balance (Probably not what you think)

Run the Credits

No, I don't mean one mission sort or another. Not the calculation of income per hour either, that holy of holy metric. The game credits.

Balance

Take a step back. I, like most Cmdrs, have their favorite dead horses to beat; irritations with this or that game element, frustrations and disappointments regarding developer choices or prioritization, whatever it might be. For me, it's the economy, but not in this post (if this post leads you to believe I'm being to nice or minimizing issues with the game, my thread "There's an Illness in the Game" should dissuade you of that notion).

There have been alot of changes recently, and that has ruffled alot of feathers, and unleashed perhaps more vitriol than average. There is certainly a decrease in o7's both here and reddit, my preferred arena for saying nice things and generally freeing my inner fanboy; and that pains me. This game/sim/screenshot generator is a unique creation no matter your feelings on it's current state.

Give Credits

Everyone sees things differently. For a long time I was in system automation and that is part of how I look at Elite. It takes so little to break so much in a complex system.... well, that's part of what keeps me impressed with the game Beyond merely it's beauty. Fdev isn't big and the game will never nor possibly could make everyone happy. I will likely be called a bootkisser or some such but it buys me nothing to be disingenuous. Whether I agree or not with their decisions (which follow a framework we aren't privy to nor should we necessarily be) I don't think we as a community are appreciating enough here, in these infamous forums, all the hard work that has gone and is going into Elite; and what we say and do does make a difference. This is one of our few means of showing Frontier what we think and as such I know I do not always (almost never here) express more than my particular gripe(s).

This has to be frustrating and disheartening. Would you want to do it? Do you want to come into work Monday morning and instead of your long hours and dedication being appreciated getting instead a flood of complaining and in all likelihood what is nearly hate mail? Doubt the long hours?
They end the livestreams because security is apparently waiting to toss them out. Patches get put out, support is itself a marvel, the system is up far more than much smaller scale efforts by much bigger companies. You know all this already. Fdev should here the other side of the coin.

My den has become a cockpit. I have prints of python, corvette and cobra adorning the walls, the elite pendant I bought to commemorate my first elite ranking (yes from when I was on PS4) up there as well. There are folders of notes on item locations, lore threads, guardian ruins locations(the old ones), credit locations etc. I watch or listen to the livestreams at work. I built a pc out of sundry bits so I could better enjoy this beautiful beast. Frontier knows or can find out how many hours cmdrs put into the game, but not how it has captivated you. How many other games, or anything you paid this much for, made this kind of impression on you? Do we know how much heart and soul so many have put into this bargain we love to berate? The credits doesn't do that justice either, and how many have paid even that any mind?

It's easy to take for granted how good we have it (hush for now) Because of Frontier folks' hard work. I try not to, with mixed success, as do I think most Cmdrs.
But frontier should hear something beside complaining. They could just take our money and tell us to get stuffed. Instead, they try hard to make it better. Some percentage are also cmdrs in their own right. So, as anti-climatic as it is; Thank you Frontier. Beyond is beautiful. The effort to improve things shows.

o7 Cmdrs, and yes, you other dorks at Frontier as well
